06 ss/sc vs 2000-2002 camaro ss.

We are stopped by a red light on front row and the guy sorta smiles and i smile back. he revs the camaro up and i am just like damn. it sounded beastly, which most camaros do. so i yell over and say from a roll and he said only if we do from dig next and i say cool. so we get up to about 35-40 and we go, i jump a little ahead and hold pretty solid. he gaines a little but we have to let off before he gets even. so we get to the next light and and we start from a dig, i get off to a better start as i timed the light a little better. but that did not matter he had me by about 4-5 cars by the time i let off. I am excited that my car hung in there from a roll, not to excited about the dig thing though..lol

ya ls1 trap at 107 stock so it would be hard to hang with them.....he might of been an auto though because 40 is a weak spot

It could be true. When I was stock I ran my buddies 98 firebird from like 40-65 and it was close. He was barely pulling away. Sounds like the OP had a really short roll race because of traffic. I also dig raced the same car and he had 4 or 5 lengths by 70.

A Stage 2 alone would be eaten from a roll vs a LS1 F-Body. A well driven LS1 F-Body can stay within feet of a LS2 GTO.

I agree with mezz, it was his dead spot. If the race went from say 40-65 or so then ya I could see it happening, you being ready in your pwoer band and the right gear, he having to wiat for the slugh box to down shift. He would be fairly low in his RPM's and not enough time to get up to his crazy power band. Don't take that one race lightly. At the right speed or meet a 6spd from a roll and it will be the same 4-5 car lengths since you are damn near stock. From a dig, ya, no need to discuss there!

I am jelous, those F-bod guys can get alot of tire under their solid rear axle, unlike us GTO guys and our puny(sp?) 245's and IRS (275's with fender rolling).

Mezz, your Z06 must me sick. I love those cars with NA cammed power, that has to be good for 120ish trap, nice!! What color?

I won't say good kill Chood, but how about good race? Will that suffice? Tyler

i've raced an ss from a dig. I got the jump on him I guess he didn't expect me to try anything. So Because of the jump i had a about a car length on him and by the time he reached 3rd gear he zoomed passed me. At the next light he asks me what mods I got and I told him that I was all stock he couldn't believe that I kept up with him for as long as I did. I didn't mind losing as being a past owner of a camaro myelf. I knew I wouldn't win, but just wanted to see how long I could keep up. But, from a roll at 35 he would've whooped me quick.

Is it that hard to understand that when the I hung/killed a LSX posts would stop so would the responses from the owners of LSX powered cars.

Think about it the fastest SS/SC on here is only .20 faster than what a LS1 F-Body or LS2 GTO can do stock.

but they only race from rolls here, so that is irrelevant.

yeah....ok.

There are guys on here with cars that will crush a stock LS1 or LS2. Please...inform us of who you think has the fastest cobalt on this site? There are ALOT of fast cobalts on this site that have not posted numbers simply because they have nothing to prove. And I can assure you...we are walknig LS1's like they are on a leash. I wish I could get the video off my phone. (anyone know how to do that?)

Good job kinda keeping up man.

Unless of course....WE have 400 horsepower Then all of a sudden that extra 500-1000lbs of pig fat they carry around kills them.

Weight is a killer. Half the reason those cars have a V-8 is because it is the only motor safey capable of carrying a 3800lb car without killing everyone aboard when they pull the family out of DQ. Thats like bragging you have a 12 cylinder in your dumptruck

GTO's are whats left over after a LS2 C-6 takes a ****. (a very heavy ****).

I really like the way they have that family car/muscle car look for the weekend dad... or the Insurance salesman type styling going on...real sharp

Because our fat pigs only weighs 200 lbs more then the Camaro's and Trans Ams with a thousand times better interior, ride, and safety then those or your cars. Were the camaro's fat as well?

Maybe some of use grew up and wanted a grown up or a business man's muscle car instead of the hey look at me black trans am WS6's (although they do look sinister). For the money we get a by far safer car then any I have mentioned above, the most comfortable seats this side of a Lexus LS470 (and can seat 4 extremely comfortably), 27+ highway MPG(I have seen 28.3 from Madisonville Texas to Lewisville Texas), and enough HP to beat down on the lesser porsche's and other German cars short of some of the high end AMG's and M models. But yea, our car have no excuse to exist and every college graduate and business worker should just either drive a camaro or a cobalt if we want to go fast with GM! Sure, the styling may not be what the old GTO's were, but I gurantee you I get waay more thumbs up and nice car then you! Plus our wing is smaller!

I am not on this site to bash your cars, look at all my other posts. Most inquire more about your car, I want to learn because I have some friends with these cars that are almost as quick as I am. Come to think of it FN, I have asked questions about your car a few times as well. My brother loves these things and I much prefer them over SRT's and SI's by far (only gripe is why no center arm rest in your cars????). A few of my posts have been made in reference to give insight on how fast a GM V8 car is when they say then stayed next to one in a stock balt. For some reason you all give us GTO drivers this black cloud over our heads because you have a beef with maybe two of them? TXRLU, do you guys hate him? He had a Redline and now drives a goat, as well as many others. Trust me, if I couldn't have afforded my car comfortably I would have bought a SS/SC. I am a GM enthusiast(Sp?) and really like these cars and what they offer. Just don't bash our cars, have you ever driven or ridden in one? That is usually what it takes to fall in love with this Australian Coupe.

For the record, go to LS2GTO.com and you will not see this kind of bashing towards your cars, many love them as they are putting up a fight to the pesky ricers and SRT's. Oh, and they put V8's in our cars so we can pull out of the DQ with a little style; side ways and smokin' em up! Tyler

Just teasing you man it's ok

I like the Goats...I just think it's funny because threads liek these are ALWAYS getting out of hand and I thought I would make a joke. Thats all

SOO... to AMX I apologize...and to other GTO owners as well. I was really only teasing.

But to you AMX...you are obviously a true car guy..because of your reply being so...here it is without being rude.

So nice GTO man, rock on

And as far as being fast...LS2 GTO's do live up to their hype...regardless of what others want to think.

A buddy of mine has a bored out and cammed LT1 with 4:10's and he still has trouble with next to stock LS2 GTO's. Rough cars man...very rough

I apologize as well. I guess I took it out of context, its kind of hard to identify sarcasm sometimes. I appreciate it though!

Jokes are sometimes all that are needed, laughter is one of the best medicines right!

Car guy I am, grew up old school through my dad (hence the name) and kind of stayed that way somewhat. But I do enjoy going to some of the highend sites like M5 forums and ferrari chat to see what they say, not to mention the vette sites. The more I can learn the better, isn't that what work is for? These new forced inductions four cylinders are starting to scream! MS3's, SRT's, and SS's, we 8 guys need to be on our toes. The LS2's are great on the highway and topend, just our little 235 tires hold us back on a dig and slow rolls.

You got any pics of your car? I would imagine someone that has so much into a car to go fast has some nice shiney parts on there to make it stand out as well!

I see you are from Wisconsin, you a packers fan? I have been one of those because of my dad since I was a little kid! Tyler

BTW, I would have gotten the blue one, just like the one in the upper corner of the site. I enjoy watching that thing blink and bling! Haha

It's all good man. It didn't sound too much like a joke. I just figured most of the guys on here know me well enough to know that I really like giving guys ****, thats all. I like ALL cars...period and if they deserve respect...then they deserve respect.

And I'll say it...an LS2 GTO...deserves respect.

I know a guy who has an M5...very nice car...I have raced him a couple times...on they highway those things are VERY fast.

I have some pics, but I have my car built to look pretty much stock...I even have my nitrous lines pretty much out of view. If I gave you pictures you would be like...wow..a stock cobalt with dark taillights

My engine shot is on Dynotunes website.
