06 SS/SC VS. Cavi W/ 3800 swap
06 SS/SC VS. Cavi W/ 3800 swap
So people at the OH meet saw my good friend Devon last Saturday. He had the green cavalier with the 3800 swap. I think he has a 3.0' pulley which is 10 psi instead of the stock 8psi (he has many more mods to come
) Well anyways we have raced once before from a 40mph to a 90mph roll and I had about a car length on him. I am stock besides a air box mod
So yesterday after about a month of waiting we took it to the freeway......we were getting on the freeway coming off the ramp.....him right behind me...we went from a 40mph to 110mph roll I pulled about a car length then he evened it out with maybe me finishing about a fender ahead.....then we went from a 65 roll which is his "sweet spot" obviously not mine. He pulled almost a car slowly then once my rpms came up in 3rd I stopped his pulling and may have started to creep on him but we had to let off for traffic.....then we went twice from a 80 roll it was dead even both times we went up to 135mph. It was awesome He has mad respect for my car as I do for his. The guys that helped him get his car together cant understand how we are so evenly matched. They disrespect the SS/SC I guess all the time. And told devon he can't drive. Regardless it was a lot of fun

Well thats cool. Just try to explain to them its al power to WEIGHT that matters. I'm sure his Cavi. has to weigh a bunch with that V-6 under the hood. But I'm actualy surprised he doesn't pull you off the line considering that weight would mean traction.
None the less its nice to see guys with almsot = cars not hating on each other.

well he gets NOOOO traction just like my car! So we don't even attempt to race off the line But we wouldn't hate on each other we have been best friends pretty much since like 7th grade
his cavy an auto or a 5 speed, and what year is it? I have seen some 11 second 3800's, they have some sick bolt ons out in the market, but the weight does hurt a little.... not much in this case as if it was a 95+ cavalier, the weight was prolly about even, hes got a lot more torque though with the 2 extra cylinders hp wise, stock he would be around 230-240 depending on what gen 3800 hes running, at 10psi id say about 270 roughly..... are you stock?

And yes he is expecting to be around 400 hp next summer 3800's have lots of potential....
He think he is at about 250 to 260 HP And I am stock other than a air box mod
Yea we both thought so too.....but nope we are evenly matched

nm, i see you are stock now that i re-read.... good race man
its a gen III 3800 then, hp numbers sound about right at 10psi, i have a friend that prolly has close to 350-400 in his 99 buick regal, slp exhaust, intense pcm, cammed, intercooled, a bunch of other stuff, total sleeper, the cavy with a 5 speed and that motor would be fast as hell, but with the auto, unless the auto is tuned to shift better, wont be that fast. he should swap it with a getrag 5 speed, bolts right up, and he would only need to spend the money on having the flywheel machined. theres mass info on the cavy forums

thats why I said I thought but thanks for correcting me i just know its a intense pulley lol

yeah , is he intercooled , and does he have bigger injectors , because thats pushing the stock cooling system and fuel system pretty hard , your normally supposed to upgrade injectors at a 3.0 and its normally not safe to run a 3.0 without an intercooler , just letting you know so your friend doesnt blow his motor , stock pulley for that motor is a 3.8

yea he needs to! he is always on j-body.org like me! lol

Given max stock boost levels of approximately 8 psi at the shift points, this pulley will give approximately a 40% increase to 11+ psi
this is from thrasher charged dot com , and that is the specs for the 3.4 pulley , my guess is that hes running that one , or a 3,5 ,
with a 3.4-3.5 that motor can only push around 220 WHP combine it with the weight of the cavi and it should be a good race against a slightly modded cobalt (slightly mddded meaning ONE mod: ex-airbox , OR cat back!!
All in all good race this one adds up perfect
here is the dyno sheet for a 3.5 pulley tuning and exhaust
3.5" pulley + tuning + exhaust
225.4 WHP
337.5 WTQ

Wow, check your pistons after that ****... even stock this car shouldn't be run that many time sin a row... 4 back to back to back to back runs???? you're ******* crazy and i'd be surprised if you don't blow your motor in the next 6 months!
heres the link where i got my information as you can tell i like gtp's

i did think about draining every fluid out of my car before racing though just to make it fun........grandma

everyone i know who has blown their motor has blown it doing back to back runs... even stock, these cars can't take that much abuse. maybe you'r right, maybe not, maybe go **** yourself. Have fun with your boat anchor because that's all it's going to become.
