Cool 06 SS SC vs LS1 TransAm

So it was a Late Sunday night, a buddy of mine pulls up in his new LS1 TransAm "yea man i got it dyno'd @ 425" Ok so i tell him yea we just dropped pulley to a 2.6 and make easy 15psi boost 3rd gear lmao as i rev it up and his GF smiles!
Later that night he returns and yes i was looking for a kill, would have been the first in months as we just finished saturday modding my SC!
We take the cars out to the HWY and proceed to drop to a 30-40 roll as we cut these cars loose i pulled ahead and he makes a come back just as i shift again i pulled ahead...at this point all i can hear is my co-piolet yelling "go go go" I shift to 4th and start pulling hard; half car ahead @ this point then the TransAm cuts out......Cobalt Kill lmao couldn't believe it.

We meet back up @ our meeting location...."God Damn" driver of the TransAm "that's one fast Cobalt"

i made more than 15psi on a 2.8...

and it would have got walked by a ls1 camaro with exhaust, slp and ls6 manifold

but if it happened congrats my friend.

Got to admit im borderline calling bs.... If he actually put 425hp to the wheels... then itd take a very strong ss/sc to beat it if the driver can drive.

Oh and yes i do run more then 15psi but i just threw that number at him to see what he would say....not to mention he wants a rematch!! Oh for the none believers my LNF buddy was trailing the race LE5_AJ

Nice kill, I will be honest, from a dig I seriously have troubles with the ls1 cars. I have a buddy who has a newer camaro, like a 2002 ss that is a ls1 and he has around 325 whp and he pulls about 1 solid car length on me if I don't spray.

I was going to be building up my motor to beat him, but now I will be doing it over the winter. Oh well, I still know I have the fastest 4cyl around =D.

even if his car was close to stock and he could barely drive the thing he should have still walked away from u....those cars run mid 13's stock, a friend of mine has a LS1 T/A with a full exhaust n he runs 13.0's all day...so unless your trapping over 107ish, BS flag

honestly it did i was trailing the race and to be honest the transam wasn't that fast it was auto and had 3 people in it but so did the ss/sc i know how good ls1's are but we are also at 6000ft. and boosted cars aren't affected as much as n/a cars so that also helps the ss/sc

tell the supposed 400+hp ls1 to tell ya his mods.

not gona happen.
i put down 410hp (h/c full bolt ons)..........and no cobalt on this site is going to give me a decent run except for the top tier 11 second club (and thats a roll only)

sorry but we need to hear why he thinks his "new" ls1 put down that kind of power.

is that why the n/a car is going to pick up a little .400 of a second. and a f/i car is going to only pick up a little over .100 of a second?

n/a engines have no choice but the breathe the air theyre given. f/i engines are still going to be able to compress that air so the variation in gal/min will not be as much as a n/a car.

I respectfully disagree.

you take 2 cars.
Stock ls1 vs an evo

the ls1 will lose about a second between IL or CO race tracks.
The Evo about .5 second

I lived it.
best i could run cam only at Bandi speedway in my cammed camaro was 13.3
came to chicago and ran a 12.3.....same setup.

meanwhile, the boosted 4cyl cars there were just as fast as the n/a v8.
freakin evos, srt's, etc drove us nuts with what they could run!

i can guaren ****** tee that the trans am doesn't have 400 hp i bet it's completly stock it had stock exhaust even plus it was auto and from a roll i'm sure he didn't put it in low or 2 or whatever to get it to shift down off the start. I'm not a ******* when it comes to cars i usually know what i can and can't beat i actually thought the s/c would lose but to my supprise it didn't. So next time we go i will take a vid. OH i almost forgot there's another ws6 ls1 that's m6 that is stock except for getting a tune this week and i have 3 inch catless turbo back exhaust, injen cp, fmic, and tuned what do you guys think my chances are i don't think that the tune on his car will do much but how will i do thanks.

Its still a win if hes ahead no matter what they started from. I didnt buy a fwd car to do digs all the time and in my area there are very few places to do digs.

Nice race man. Ls1s are fun to play with, as long as they are close to stock!

A race is a contest of speed, doesn have to be a stop. I'm not one of those guys that just does rolls, trust me I love digs, but sometimes you just don't get the opportunity to stop and take off so you gotta make the best of it.
