06 SS/SC vs. new Eclipse GT

Comin home this guy comes up behind me, falls back, and then comes up along the side of my car. We go from a rolling 40 and he just gets left...I had at least 4 cars on him. I haven't read up on these new Eclipses, but I thought they were at least kinda quick. Driver error?
BTW first race since getting this car 2 weeks ago. Coming off my 96 Impala SS I have been really impressed with this thing.

i don't think they're that fast, but they're faster than the previous generation eclipse. just not GSX before it

That's actually kind of incorrect.

The GSXs were 14 second cars.

Here is the deal...I know cause I own a 06 Eclipse GT and have discussed what people have done track wise.

If we had a LSD or better tires, we would be very high 13 second cars IF you have the manual version and you can drive. We have tons of torque and spin very easily. I know if I drop it into 2nd on a roll, I still spin my tires and my traction control comes on. My car is 100% stock.

There is a video of a 06 Eclipse GT on streetfire, bone stock, ran 14.0. Most people run low 14s.

If it was a auto version, it's a high 14 second car.

There are alot of auto ones running around so it wouldn't suprise me that you would catch a auto one.

I never got to race a SS/SC but when I was fing around on the highway with my friend who had a stock SS/SC, he said he thought I would take him pretty easily. I have a 6-speed manual version. The autos are sportronic 5-speeds.

So hopefully this gives you a idea about the cars.

Also, if you run into one that is even SLIGHTLY modified, good luck...

These engines respond REDICULOUSLY well to modifications. I saw a Auto version that had a intake and cat-back and then he put on long tubed headers and gained 40 WHP! More and more are starting to get the headers. I've even seen guys with intakes alone gain 15 WHP and up. It's rediculous lol

I raced a 6spd with an intake and I walked away from him. I put about 4 cars on him from a 100km/h roll before I even shifted out of 3rd gear.

They are pretty quick cars, but their owners over hype the **** out of them unfortunately. The kid that I raced and beat easily made a post on the Eclipse board saying that he beat me and blah blah blah. I soon found his post and set the story straight. Even after telling them how bad I crushed him, they still said that the SS's were ****, haha. They are very similar to Honda owners!

Yeah, I'm on the forums too...

Half of them are idiots and think they can beat too many type of vehicles...

Though they are quick.

But you got a hefty mod list so it doesn't suprise me you won

I've found the owners of newer eclipses to be real d-bags. Not all of them but alot of them.

I raced one and unlike the owner throwing a thumbs up after I easily walked him he flipped me off. Apparently he really wanted to race but definately didnt want to lose..

There is a guy who lives a few blocks away from me, he has a new orange one, The car is mad nice. He got it lowered with some really nice rims. I really like how the new eclipses look. But he talks so much **** on peoples rides. He swears he could beat my friends Z28 but when ever my dude wants to race him, he always got some gay ass excuse, but hey thats how people are i guess.

I've driven a new Eclipse GT. They are half decent cars. Crap load of torque steer and tire squeeling but if it had better tires and other traction mods then it would be nice. I don't think they have LSD's but it wouldn't really matter anyways on a straight line. I haven't raced any in my car or seen many modded ones in my area. Most ppl around here stay away from those cars. I don't know too much bout them but they are decent and fun on the highway. I"m sure some boost would help.

No LSDs...

Exactly, tons of torque steering. It sucks but def a fun highway car.

I raced my friends 067 gt when all I had was intake, he had intake and cat-back. I would take him until third gear, and then he would just walk me hard....but that was really the only gear he gained anything on me.
Now with stage 2, I'd imagine I'd beat him, but I don't think by much.

With stage 2 , intake , and exhaust you shouldnt have any problem pulling them from a 40 mph roll . Our traps with stage 2 are higher then theirs. Stage 2 balts have very nice top end power !
