06 SS/SC Vs. Turboed Audi TT

On my way home the other night, I got stopped at a red light and I seen a pair of HID's turn in front of me before I could make out what it was, he was gone. So light turns green and I tried to catch up to him and see what it was. Low and behold, it was kinda a race I waiting for, and Audi TT. Well I tried to mess with him to see if hes game and he bites.

First race from about 50 we go and we are about dead even, no one really pulling. His turbo is just screaming.

Second race is from a stop and I tooke him by about a car up until 120 and we cut out

Third was just like the first and had the same outcome, go figure.

So we pull up to the next red light and he asked what it was and my buddy yells to him Cobalt SS. SO he asks what it has and i tell him, and hes like yeah I'm a 4 turboed, which I could tell the whole time with it screaming in my ear. All in all, dude was cool and we went our seperate ways with grins on our faces.

Nice race bud....if the turbo was screaming he might have been chipped...stock the turbo really isnt that loud.....plus the fact that he was right next to you makes me believe that he was definately chipped.

what are you running....cuz the newer TT's are quick as hell. But the older ones are stock for stock about the same as the balt.

Well i shoulda said the newest. Cuz im just talking about the 06 i dont know about the 05s. But the 06 ive seen some run mid to low 14s stock. and if he worked his turbo then he could be faster.

do those TT's have the Quattro AWD? If he had quattro, I'm surprised you fared so well from the dig.

Sorry but what does a chip have to do with the loudness of a turbocharger?

There would only be 2 reasons his turbocharger would be louder than normal

1. He has a stock turbocharger that is pushing more PSI than normal (more PSI created = Higher RPM Turbo spinning)

2. He has a larger turbocharger than the stock one

most of the time a tuned turbo car will be running more boost.

Because thats what a "chip"...on those cars do.....I dont know specifically what the audi tt's run for boost....but I know the gti for example....same motor obviously 1.8t. Stock they ran only 9lbs of boost...spiking maybe close to 12.....after my bro chipped his with giac he was running 20lbs consistantly spiking 22.....so the answer is obviously #1 as you stated.

Gotcha. I was thinking that afterwards.

But if it was "screaming", it was more than likely a new turbocharger cause the stock turbos are typically small and harder to hear.

true I would agree....but trust me....my bro's turbo screams and all he has is a drop-in intake filter....even an srt-4 with an intake has a relatively loud turbo being stock. I just assumed it was chipped because if had a bigger turbo I dont think the tt would've lost.

I should have rephrased

The stock turbochargers in Audis/VWs are typically small.

That would be one hell of a trade! Good luck with it! If it's her car, are you allowed to still play with it? lol

It wasnt a quattro since he was spinning the rear wheels. And I didnt make this just to get bashed, I have better sense than that. I tell **** like it is. It wasnt a quattro it was a rear driver and was turboed. Take from that what you will, its still a good kill for the balt. And I faired so well from a dig because of the simple turbo = wait to spool the turbo/ super = instant torque.
