07 LSJ vs 06 Mustang GT

05-07 Stang GT stock (AUTO) Roughly 12-15% drivetrain loss
300 bhp = roughly 260 whp @ 5700
320 btrq = roughly 265 wtrq @ 4500
3400 lbs

07 LSJ
3" pulley
ported blower
Meth 50/50
Dual pass & option b
3" from the JBP header back and catless exhaust
K&N typhoon intake
199 KPA OR 14.16 PSI @ 6444 rpm (1200-1400' elevation in 60* weather, IAT2 was 108*)

My current tune I'm running the car relitively rich at 11.0-10.8 through the rev band. Timing is at 20* @ 1.04 g/cyl, 21* @ 1.08, then climbs to 22* and peaks at 23* at 1.20-1.28 g/cyl at 6000-7000 rpm.

Found a nice empty stretch of road, and ran from 40 mph in 2nd.

Immediately he pulled me roughly half a car, and held until I hit 7k rpm in 2nd, shifted to 3rd dropping me to roughly 4000 rpm and I blew by him like a freight train, pulling at least 3-4 cars before shutting it down.

I was expecting a rape immediately from the get go in 2nd gear, but I had no idea a stock GT makes that kind of power STOCK. Makes me wonder what im putting down on this farris wheel pulley. The GT isn't such a bad car in my mind after all...

BTW this 3" pulley is fail for trying to make trq match hp even w/ METH on and full bolt ons.
I could only manage to get 21* of timing at 1.04-1.08 g/cyl in 3rd on the start of the WOT, without knocking.
After 1.08 g/cyl timing can be maxed to 25.

Cheers

eh... 300 lbs difference

wasnt his autos shifting that netted his loss tho; his auto in fact pulled on me in 2nd. I was already in gear ready to go lol

...and you are only running a 3.0" pulley, why?

Drop that bitch! With 42# injectors, you should be able to run a 2.8" with ease. That'll give you that much needed torque.

But, back to the race. That's a Mustang for you.

400lbs difference.

And weight will make a HUGE difference in a roll race. Most people don't consider things like that. But trust me. I've experimented. Huge Difference from just 200lbs. Extra passengers will make a big difference as well.

Geez Us! 2.6" or go home!

lol... you dont need a tiny ass pulley to make decent power. it will make a lot more trq though, I think..?

My car doesn't like the added boost of the 2.7. used to run 19 PSI on a 3" full exhaust w/ a highflow cat.

I'll pulley down to a 2.9, play with it, then prolly cap it at a 2.8 at 16 psi if my car takes to the added 2 psi.

My car likes 108 IAT2 at almost 6500 rpm in 3rd lol...

Right. The smaller the pulley, the more torque you get. Keep this in mind, IIRC, it was the great Carroll Shelby that said, "Horsepower sells cars, Torque wins races."

trust me im trying my best in this tune im working on to maximize trq lol.

this stupid 3" just isn't cutting it.

I'm interested in that larger TB for a next mod.. since ive done just bout everything other thn the bottom and top end.

Not surprising considering it's a high 13 second car and you ran from your sweet spot, LOL. The newer 5spd autos arent as bad as the older 4spd autos, but they still arent the greatest for roll racing. Nice kill!!

You were running 19lbs on a 2.7" pulley with a Ported Blower and 3" exhaust... Somethings wrong with that picture....

I ran a 2.6 on full 3" exhaust and Ported blower and netted around 16-17 psi.....

Was at sea level when tuning my car

HPT data logging is far more accurate than your stock boost gauge is.

Looking at their specs, it seems that's their sweet spot too.

I couldn't believe the guy pulled on me in 2nd, even though it was just half a car lol.

Maybe in a 5spd manual, not the auto. There isnt much of a difference from a dig, but from a roll it's alittle different.

Either way, I know where my car sits now power wise on this 3" pulley.

I'm interested in dynoing it; cause I'm going to start tracking it again. So I need a base sort of.

Next time he's gonna bring his modded WRX

intake, hdr, tune, and sti turbo upgrade (dunno which year)

About how much power are you making with your setup? Just a heads up, an intake and tune 05+ GT makes about 290rwhp and like 310rwtq and would most likely beat you from a dig and roll. Just watch out for a tuned GT.

who knows man

No idea what power I make in this car...

It's less trq than 260... judging by how the gt pulled me half a car @ 4000 rpm.

but it makes more hp than 260, considering how much ground I covered in 3rd when I passed him.

Just wish I had my wide band so I could lean out the top end a bit. I'm stuck at 10.8 for a lil while lol.

260+whp in a Cobalt is nice, I love having almost 300whp in my SS/TC, but traction is a HUGE issue now, LOL.

I'm pushing about 300rwhp and about 320rwtq in my 05 Mustang GT and it still likes to spin thru 1st and 2nd. And I'm running Nittos, which suck on the track because they're not DR's.

I'm on 245/40/18 tires w/ 24 lb rims and 1st gear to 2nd just rips the tires loose if I rev it out to 7k and shift lol.

When I went to our local 1/8 mile track last Sunday night, I spun 1st, 2nd and some of 3rd before I caught traction.

Our local track sucks very badly. They only prep it when they do the bracket racing on Friday nights, which usually after that they have "Midnight Madness", which is open racing to whoever, and sometimes its still alittle prepped, but Sunday was just a last second thing.
