09 SS/TC bolted and tuned vs 06 LS2 GTO w/ some bolt ons

Well, I ran my buddy Nick last night in his 06 LS2 GTO. His car is no joke, runs 12.4-12.5 @ 113-115.

He has headers, exhaust, intake (he can chime in if he has something I missed). Car dyno'd 380whp/390wtqish to the wheels.

I am bolted, BYT tuned. 320/390 Run 12.9 @ 113-115 as well.

Could NOT do a 40 roll last night since it was cold (30*) and I had nothing but spin in 2nd gear from that range (he had the same situation as well). We did 60 rolls instead to compensate for the wheel spin that we both had.

Pulled a 1/4-1/2 car through 3rd and then lost it in 4th where his top end kicked. Ran 4th all the way through and my front bumper was at his rear bumper when I let off the gas. Minimal brake boost (5psi) was done to achieve these results. This was pretty consistent when we got our roll launches good at the same time.

Ross (billigss/sc) hung in there as well - for his mods and what he has I was proud of him and what his stg 2 ss/sc could do. he trapped consistent 106-108 @ 13.7.

Come spring/summer I wanna do a 40 roll against him (Nick with the GTO) to see how she performs as opposed to running out 1 gear and then watching my top end go bye bye

No BS, no extraordinary claims (Nick - GTO owner) is on this site and can attest to these runs (as was Ross - billigss/sc).

Now the cobalt is sitting in the garage waiting to come back out since there is 13 inches of snow on the ground

Sounds like a good time. I went backand forth the other day with a retard that claimed a slower 1/4 car could nto keep up with a faster car just because they were at a rolling start. I guess he has never hears of that little thing called traction... LOL Good run, I like to run my friends LS1 Camaro he is all stock and my mods are in my sig, I can pull on him now he can't stand it..... +1 for 4 bangers!!

very believable. my buddy ran a gto last night. 05-06 im not sure which, he had full exhaust intake bigger throttle body and something else and cobalt had intake tune exhaust. they did like a 20-30 roll first run and cobalt pulled about a car. then a 40 roll and they were side by side

Yeah, I learned that!

It was only going to get worse and worse and my tune isn't a slouch by any means.

That's badass to be hanging with a 115mph GTO. Get some MT Radials, motor mounts, and go for a rematch in the spring

My car isn't as quick but the results are the same when going up against lsx(02 firehawk, ls1 GTO, cts-v)vehicles...after 80-90mph they pull away.

Here in higher elevation its much easier to beat up on V8's. I ran an I&E LS2 a while ago, not sure if he had a tune, all I could identify was the intake and exhaust. It was a constant pull away from him with no ground lost. Again. 3000+Ft V8's around here suffer. SRT-8's and Comaro SS's barely break a high 13 at the tracks around here. TBSS run high 14's around here

Matt sorry this took so long. I'm 388whp/385wtq. Mods are right, full exhaust and intake, if there is a tune its canned garbage because my car runs very rich, afr at wot is 11.4 to 11.8.

I'm going to get the intake manifold ported, and get a dyno tune. I'm hoping for 415 to 420whp/wtq, but ill be happy with anything over 400.

We will definitely have a rematch, especally when ross pullies down

You should just be patient and tune after you get the procharger then. Don't throw your money away just to make your car marginally faster. A Cam makes a world of a difference too on about any LSx motor.

I agree with you, but I'm keeping it under warranty till it expires, then I'm starting my cam or forced induction build.

Has this GTO actually been to a track, or are we spewing numbers based on hear-say like 99% of the other people on this board?

388whp with no tune is pretty crazy, sounds like you got a happy dyno. Don't expect to make 420whp without a good sized cam. Porting the intake is a waste of money.

Edit: I see you ran your times at Cecil in December. I believe it. I ran 11.85 @ 114 at ATCO with headers/tune and ET streets.
Your SAE numbers are still off.

And if you don't wanna get depressed, don't correct your 1/4 mile times either.

Yea it's been to the track many times. Fastest I've seen Nick run personally was 12.2

Wow, why the hate?

I have ran my gto well over 100 times. The 12.2 was december in cecil, my 12.3s were all year long, between atco and cecil. I was trapping high 112 before I swapped out my k&n drop in to the vararam now I have seen higher. The dyno was at rpm in delaware...from what I was told it is on the stingy side, but not that bad.

Do I really need to post my dyno graphs? Am I seriously being questioned?

Edit: and from the guy who claims his stock ls2 a4 runs 12.5 at 111...yeah okay.

well on the stock ls2 intake u would waste ur money to port it... it will cost just about as much to get a 90 mm fast. and as far as the hp rateings i have seen alot of gto's dyno up in okc real high. now i will tell u nick i would not go and get a dyno done for 500 dollars. i take mine out to the votech in the auto mechanics department. here in okla. they can dyno and set your af's and i get mine done for 10.00$. i can take my car to the place i had my 04 done and every wed. they have dyno day and for 40.00$ i can get the same done from a respected place. i will tell u when u do get a good tune done u will definately see the difference.

now i do not run my car at the track anymore, as i just do not want to ruin it. the times in my sig was done 2 yrs ago with the stock clutch slipping and burning all the way down the track. my car now has a little under 5000$ in the engine and clutch, that sounded like a very good race between the two of u. power to weight has it's advantages...

No idea who told you I drive an a4 but I definately drive an M6. Stock with DR's it ran 12.5 @ 111.

Relax, 99.9999% of the people who spout times off here have never even been to a track, so one could be conditioned to think that the remaining .0001% of people don't exist.

I still say you have a happy dyno, regardless of what you have heard, without a tune I don't see you making 388 SAE with your mods. You could show me a dyno sheet but it doesn't change the fact that 388 is probably the highest dyno ever for those mods by a good 10-15whp. Many people with solid cam-only LS2's dont even make 420, you're not going to make that with the addition of a ported manifold, which most likely wont even yield any gains at all.
