09 SS vs 06STi again
09 SS vs 06STi again
hey guys, same STi as my earlier thead.
SS: Hahn cai, ZZP catless, BYT tuned
STi: invidia exhaust and DP, Stage ? tune through Cobb accessport, Cobb intake, random suspension crap, and badass Subie sound
i wanted to see how my new tune did. the reason im always racing him is because we alway cruise around together. friendly races are fun. this one i fucked up BAD. we went down to 40 on the high way, like a moron i was in second, and after the beeps i hit the limiter basically and had a poopy shift, we stayed even with me shifting at around 5-6 grand, my limiters are at 6800, and i DID NOT no lift shift. at the very tip top of 3rd and beginning of 4th i started to creep away and by the end of fourth i had a car on him and we stopped. with my old trifecta tune hed jump about a half car then id obliterate him with top end. now i spin alot and stuff so i gota get used to it. but this tune definately felt smoother and id dont shoot fireballs anymore which im happy about
then we lined up for a dig and the light turned green and OF COURSE that awd launched him like a rocket, and i didnt know how to launch but i spun for a sec then gripped hard and pulled like crazy and started to catch up by about 30-45mph with a 2 car gap between us then all of a sudden a corvette comes up behind him and cuts me off B A D to the point where im braking hard. we had a good mile before we had to stop so i woulda taken him in a few more seconds. at the next light its my friend and the vette and the vette guy points at me and says wow you burned him! uh dumbfuck i woulda beaten him if you and your lack of manhood hadnt cut me the hell off. it was a c5 LS1 AUTOMATIC with a laxer *** driver. when the STi asked him to go at the next light, he said im late and turned right. what a dig. ruined my night. all in all a shitty night. ill learn to shift right, and learn the car again and beat him bad next time. thoughts?

sounds like a ******* vette driver... and i ahve no doubt you would have taken him eventually.. STI from a dig is suicide for a FWD but from a roll and you're tuned... you would have probably had him. no worries.. it happens... there will always be someone faster and sometimes they aren't and the circumstances win.. had a honda civic pass me on an offramp after ripping up behind me... i downshifted to third and kept up with him but my turbo didn't even get a chance to spool .. met him a few weeks later and he said "ya man i can't believe i was pulling on ya... " all i could say was... if i knew we were racing you wouldn't have and that my car was barely broken in at that point. so im sure now he thinks his little 175hp civic is faster than my cobalt... ah well let him think that... someday he'll get a surprise when he tries to race me and i actually see him coming this time.
yea vette kid was a total homo. probly thought his vettes got 'vtac yo'. ive taken that STi in the past with ease. just a bad night haha. hes getting a new monster tune tho so we'll see
I raced a sti on my way up to iowa for spring break. Was from a 70 roll maybe, and I pulled on him pretty hard. Passed a celica gtr (gts?), old ass girl driver, who tried to catch up, but failed miserable. I was laughing, Im sure the guy in the subaru was laughing as well.
a sti with downpipe and exhaust will have a cobb accessport stage 2 tune (thats what stage 2 is). so he's prob around 290 awhp and about 320 awtrq. so you have the power and weight advantage. however his curve is a lot smoother.
The accessport comes with some pretty conservative tunes. Plus the stock turbo cant hold boost till redline.
^ this is true and i agree with you 100% but i said a lot smoother; comparing it to a cobalts ss/tc's curve. which is like a mountain in the middle and drops off on both sides bc that turbo is even smaller.
reaton ss, i agree his powerband is very smooth. i love his car so much. when anyone talks trash about it or him i always freak out before him haha. we raced yesterday from 40 on the way back home from the range. i went into second, grinded 3rd BAD like a granny, and he pulled then i caught up and we were dead even to 125. if i had gotten in 3rd it would have been over for him. from more recent digs ive gotten better, not great tho. i can usually catch up shortly after the 60 foot mark. but also he has never truely launched because he takes great care of that car.

I have the 5mt and launch pretty hard on it with an 07 sti turbo and havent broke anything.

Same thing happened to me.. this s2000 from behind just storms beside me. I hesitated.. we were in a zone.. i hit it and by the time he is about a car infront.. we are dead even in speed then i can see me reel him in.. so i let off. He talks ricer crap.. going 25-30 mph rolling in 3rd and he can barelly get ahead.. i think that says something about the o'l slowbalt. He tries it again.. and this time.. im thinking he is gona go. He does.. while in 2nd i let her go and he is no were near to get close to me. I dont like to street race, but wanted to play a little. Was a fun time.. im ready for the track this year. Thats all im going to say.
