Well I finally got a shot at one of my friends car yesterday. I was heading home with a friend, and happened to pull up behind the Focus, he saw me and knew I was heading home, so he lead the way, and I obviously had to follow. So I stopped home, dropped of my friend (he was picking up his car), and told the kid in the Focus to follow me, we went out to a very rural road (farm fields on both sides, no houses for 2 miles) and i slowed down to about 25-30mph. He immediately caught on and pulled up next to me. I gave him a few seconds to ready him self, then shifted the gear selector into "L" and took off. It was pretty even up until about 80-90mph where I ever so slowly started to walk away, by the time we hit 100-110 he was at my rear door.

We pulled into an old abandoned dirt parking lot a mile away and he gave me a thumbs up and said he was surprised he did so well.

I was surprised I did as well as I did too, knowing that his car has more HP stock, and is most likely lighter as well, and mated with a 5spd, I thought I was doomed, but apparently not.

One more notch on the belt for the good ol' balt

 

good one is your car a standard? the focus is that the hatchback with 2 doors, cause a friend of mine had that same car and all i did was smoke him over and over so he bought a wrx now he beats my balt but he will never take my talon

the Focus ZX4 has the 2.3l Duratec, which was what scared me most about his car

 

chevy just makes a better motor hands down

 

I hate those Ford Fuckuses. That's a great win for an auto. It's good to know that our cars can beat the competition.

was it a brand new focus zx4 ST? or just an s/se/ses. i like focuses, my last car was one.

if its 05+ s/e/s it had the duratec 2.0 with like 130 something maybe.
if its st its a 2.3. i have a friend that has an st and with just an intake he ran 9.8 in the 1/8...

my focus hatch had the 2.3 but was an auto, which is why i got rid of it lol

 

My buddie has the 2dr hatch focus and i smoke him most of the time (driver mod) but our cars are pretty even.

 

It was the Duratec 2.3, I've seen it before, so I know it was the 2.3

 

Good Kill.......... I "play around" with a Black Focus ZX4 almost weekly. He works down the street from me, and leaves work at the same time. We catch each other at the light for the highway on ramp. We follow each other down the highway (sometimes I lead.....sometimes he leads.), we do little "spirited" runs when traffic allows. I don't know who this guy is but he usually gives me the when he leaves the interstate. I believe I would be a close race if we were really racing.

 

i was wondering because theres a little difference in the 2.3s. and if it was a new one.

the 05+ 2.0s and 2.3s look EXACTLY the same, theres like almost no difference to them.

i know there were some older sedans with the 2.3 but they arent as fast as the ST

 

I looked at his engine last week and it distinctly said DURATEC (2.3)
The 2.0 is the ZETEC

 

Hey Avril did I tell you I beat that SVT Focus that the owner from Speedtek built? He sold it to this guy that we race with on Saturday nights. We were over in Arlington and I called him out. He wouldnt even line up till some of his friends started calling him a *****. We told him it was a guaranteed win we just wanted some film of my car. Well He was about a 1/2 car on me all the way until 3rd gear then I just walked right past him. and was like 3 cars on him by the time he hit the brakes. Ill get a video posted soon as Chris or Jason uploads it off the digicam.

no 05+ has a duratec 2.0 they got rid of the zetec -i used to have a focus iknow a lot about them:P

Hehe my car is not that fast. Its just dailed in and the focus took a nose dive around the time I was at 4500rpm in 3rd gear. I could hear it screaming like a dieing baby but it was almost like watching a muscle car run outta gears at a 1/4 mile track.
