2.2 honda Prelude vs 2005 Cobalt LS

This Prelude was on my ass as soon as jumped on the highway..It was some teenager and his GF anywayz I was just thinking to myself **** it let him pass me but he kept right on my ass...I have anger problems so I floored it and jumped from 55mph to like 85 in seconds. He kept about 4 car lengths in back of me the whole time until i reached like 90 and slowed down as we aproached a 40mph zone in the town..Anywayz I slow down to like 45 and he passes me but theres a light. WE evenly pull next to each other and his 16-17 year old gf is yeeling outt he window you need to learn how to drive! My windows are 20% dark So they couldent see me but I figured why turn this into a a fight? I know I have a LS but I hate ****** Hondas with a Passion...ughhhh My question is if they couldent pass me why talk ****?

what year was this prelude? if it was a 5th generation prelude he wouldn't have any problems passing you. he was just being a dick and rode your ass. so you hate honda's w/ a passion because of this incident?

It was a 5th gen and believe me he wanted to pass me

I know its a 2.2 V-tech ...IS it a SOHC OR DOCH...and how much TorQUe

Yup, they were impressive cars (the 5th gen prelude)

I was going to get one if it didnt have a front end as long as a giraffes neck. To long of a car IMO.

If it was a 4th gen lude though i dont think you woulda had any problems beating it haha

i don't think my honda is the fastest car ever. your mentallity is in the gutter dude. you need to realize that not all honda owners are like that guy you came across. if he really wanted to pass you he would have EASILY done it. even if it was an auto prelude.

He speaks the truth...and as for numbers, the torque is very similar to the Cobalt 2.2, at 156, but it has a higher peak and wider powerband. 195hp, or 200 on the Type-SH. Auto or not, it would take a 2.2 Cobalt fairly easily.

A good friend of mine owns a 99 Prelude with and exhaust. He claims that the exhaust has slowed him down on acceleration but magiacally increased his top speed. i don't get it. maybe he was trying to say that off the line it slowed him down but in the long run its faster? idk. plus his Pre' is auto. he's been dying to run me but I keep telling him that he would beat me. any chance of me beating him if we luanch from the line?

p.s. my car is manual with no mods besides short throw

the freed up exhaust probably gained him some top end but lost low end torque. i had a GReddy SP2 cat back on mine and kinda noticed the same thing. fastest i had it was 146mph.

i can agree with some stuff you say about why hondas have a bad rep for ricers and just ******** people. but no all people that drive hondas are *********. a few of my friends have them and some of my family memebers do. and they didnt let the oh its a honda they go 200K with no proplems go to there head because there cars have been in the shop geting fixed also. but i can agree with you that most moron people out there tryin to race are civics or hondas. like last night i was comeing home from a friends house my first time on the highway with the new car so i wanted to see how it did. so i was doing 80-90mph the cars got over 1000 miles on it now. and im just in the fast lane and i go buy this ugly teal looking 90ish honda civic with the clear lights lowered muffler the wing rims and i think how long till he tryed to race me. not even 4 sec after i pass him i see him fly into the next lane to try to get on the side of me. so i let him go flying by me black smoke flying out his muffler and im still in 5th gear and he gets to the end of the highway and turned his flashers on and im like wow and just keep going on my own way. and he even had his V-tack sticker under the rear light along with the body rust.

as was the RX-8 and the 350Z. and on the prelude you had to enlarge the opening a bit to get it to fit right. kinda nervous cutting a piece of the chassis for that. i went short ram on the prelude tho, from what i found, the CAI made it bog a bit too much and i liked the snappier throttle response on the short ram too.

i know that if he did have the h22 you had no chance, especially if he had anything done, little modifications go along way in hondas it seems, but if he had the h23, dont know if that is in the 97+ or not, then you would have been close, an old buddy of mine had a 94 with the h23 and ran a 11 in the 1/8th mile

97+ (5th gen) has the H22A, the one before it, 4th gen, had H23
