2.2 vs. ?

Ok so i drive alot. I always try to get in races and fast cars to race but probably only get into one every two weeks. So for my own curiousity, if you have a 2.2 tell me what you have beaten so the next time i pull next to one i know to let the clutch down and let the revs fly

:leans back and enjoys some waffles:This thread could get good.

Constantly looking for races is an immature move. Most entry level cars would be good matches tho

You try to get in races and look for fast cars? Um......ok Vin Diesel.....gay. Instead just go to your local 1/4 or 1/8 mile track. Won't have to "look" for fast cars. Rather they'll be there, ready to pwn you and all.

Plus, not to sound mean and not hating on 2.2's.......but what "fast" cars do you expect to beat in a 2.2? My defenition of fast everyday cars is like an EVO, STI, Mazdaspeed 3, GTO.......none of which a 2.2 will even stand a chance against. They pwn my 2.4 at the track, so they'll probally do the same to your 2.2.

yeah i would go to my local track but currently there are no tracks on long island. the closed down the last one a couple of years ago. And let me change my quoted "fast" cars to cars the are in the cobalts class. Yes i do take all responsibility for saying fast, it was a stupid move, sorry guys.

Come on guys leave the kid alone. I have to deal with them everyday from home to work and back. I sit back and laugh as their gas slowly goes down faster than mine. But dude, there are much better thangs to do, than going around and trying to find fast cars to race.

You need to do some research on what class you are in.

Stick to non boosted 4 cyl cars and you will do okay.

Street racing is stupid... but it depends what he considers "racing". If I'm at the lights with someone who wants to race... I will floor it but only to the speed limit or slightly above... but as for the crazy ******* weaving in and out of traffic racing, now thats stupid.

Seeing how everyone is being a dick i will tell you what i have been against (both on and off track).
SVT focus (1/8 track) murdered it
96-97 Mustang GT (1/8 track) beat it 3 times in a row
Sunflower (1/8 track, and called ME out) i stomped it even after me missing 2nd gear haha
94 Mercury Cougar 4.6L V8 (1/8 track) got me off the line i chased it down and smoked it
B16 swapped CRX (street....not proud of that though. i now ALWAYS take it to the track). Beat it
Grand Prix GTP (1/8 track) If i would have launched harder i MIGHT have gotten it, but it beat me by its front fender!
And i have beaten numerous civics on the highways around here. The n/a ones are slow as ***** around here.

I have to warn you though of 2 things
1) Take it to the track, i am sure all of us have done it on the street but its stupid to do. I have to travel over 45min to get to an 1/8 mile track, i know a bunch of street racers and have even gotten some of them to the track.
2) If you are on stock continentals and are dropping it at anything over 1500rpm on the street, it may seem fun to spin she **** out of your tire but your adding about 4-5tens (for an 1/8 mile track) on to your time.....so if you take off easy then punch it on the street and tracks that are like the street for traction your golden.

Ok assuming your car is stock, its still a 2.2 and it doesnt have a whole lot of *****. Sorry to burst your bubble. Your going to HAVE to do some work to your car before you think about racing. Yea you might be able to beat the Ford Focus and the stock Honda. Your not going to be beating anything worth partying about. And, even if the track is an hour away, go to it. The nearest track to me is two hours and i STILL manage to get over there [never raced on the track but i go there for moral support for the club]. Just in case you havnt read, street racing isnt cool. If you think your gaining respect, your not. You'll gain more respect at the track from your TIMES than getting to the next stoplight. Learn from what people are saying here.
