2.4 SS Vs SS/SC
Well me and a good friend (maj) did a few runs tonight on a old abandoned road with no one but ourselfs for miles.
heres how it went
from a dig, 3 beeps go. in 1st my car would take his car by half a car, second gear we would be tied right untill the top of second, then third he would crawl on me, at the end of third (when we shut down) he was roughly 1 1/2-2 cars ahead of me. we did a estiamted 5-7 runs and each run was the same outcome (except the one where he bogged down hard in 1st, i won by about half a car)
so then we went from 60 kms rolls (40 mph roughly) same resaults as the dig, id stay with him in second, then by third he would pull away from me.
btw, maj is a seasoned car driver (his car normally has stg 2, but he had to remove it for warranty work because gm canada blows *****) so he knows how to shift very well.
over all i am very impressed by my car, i also ran a 350Z in second gear and manage to keep at his bumper...was suprised with that aswell..
very impressed with my car, with a tune i should be sitting around stock ss/sc speeds if not a little more.

Yup, we had a good time. Lots of runs. We did at least 4-5 from a 60km roll, and a good 5-7 from a dig.
Dig results:
I was getting a ton more wheel spin then he was, so he would always get ahead of me right off the hop. We were dead even through most of 1st and 2nd gear. At the top of 2nd I would start to crawl on him. Into 3rd I would pull away, this is where I gained all my ground.
Roll results:
From a 60km roll in 2nd, we were absolutely dead even through 2nd in every single pull. Just before a shift to 3rd I started to crawl, and again in 3rd is where I made my ground.
Overall I was very impressed with his car. I was not expecting him to keep up with me as long as he did. Congrats JP!

Mario this isn't the Fast and The Furious ("A loss is a loss") He's simply saying that he can keep up with a few cars. I think it's sweet that our 2.4's can be made almost as fast/as fast as an SS/SC without forced induction.
a tune would do you very good, these cars dont respond much to mods if they dont have a tune, im betting the race would be fairly simular if you were stock also since your just on the stock tune
Not saying it didn't happen, but a 2.4 with intake, full exhaust (+a future tune) isn't going to make up for the ~ 65whp it lacks on even a stock SS/SC and won't be able to pull low 14's. Though anything can happen, good job.
whp isn't everything in a race....specially from a dig
This is an old thread
Anyways ,yes power isn't everything, but on the same platform and the SS/SC having better suspension and whatnot it means something...
Look at the drag list and you will see a bolt-on 2.4 is no contest for a stock SS/SC. Though anything can happen on the street but it doesn't mean your car is faster.

biggest thing the 2.4 has going for it is its rims size/weight. on the street that makes a big difference, specially with the wheel hop a ss/sc gets.
on a track i would never ever expect a 2.4 with the mods i listed to get close to what a stock ss/sc can pull.
There isn't that big of a diff between wheel size and weight between the two that would make up for the power/suspension/etc. If a stock SS/SC will beat a bolt-on 2.4 on the track with street tires, there's no reason it won't do the same else where. Even if the 2.4 happened to out launch a driver in a SS/SC it's traps are a lot lower. Why was this thread brought back?
