2.4SS vs. Durango RT

I was left sitting at a redlight caught up in my thoughts when Mr. RT hits it and peels out just in time to race ahead and stop at the next red. I ease away and slowly, get to the next light. He's a well fed chap, bout 260 or so, big slab of beef for an arm hanging out the window.

He leans out and motions for me to roll down the passenger window. I do. He asks "why you boy racers add expensive wheels to junk cars...?" [cliffs] I have a debagded SS all it says on the rear is "cobalt" so I have the polished 17s.

I say..."Well so I can waste Durango RTs" (i throw a chesher). He snaps back "Dude in your wildest dreams..this is V8 boy..aint no four banger with fancy rims hangin'period tough guy".

I say..Ok lets go on green. Highway leads out of town to a 55 mph road 4 lanes with no lights.

The light goes green and he hits it. Not bad. He's got me to middle of 2nd by a fender but he 2.4 and Vector tune is just hitting its stride. By middle of third I am stomping a mud hole in his ego. I have a few cars lengths now and he's fading fast..I can safely brake and call it a day. But el'beefo needs a lesson like another pot pie. So I stay in it in 4th all the way to 7000 and pull him..... HARD.

I shut down. Brake multiple times so he sees my tailights brake....brake...brake. He comes shooting by a few seconds later, still full throttle, with the universal peace sign extended. ...sad thing is, I don't think he ever lifted...ran home and kicked his wife. I hate it around here when the Steelers lose.

Older R/T's models are mostly a joke. I've only seen a few trick out ones that were performance orentated.

The days of the v8 being fast is far and few between.

Nice kill! It's funny everyone I've met with a Durango R/T always says the same thing: "From 0-40 I can waste anything"...tisk tisk. I guess they are all cocky.

Man I'd love to run a 2.4SS, I think it would be a really good race.

there's a saturnmotorsports throttle body that fits our cars. A guy on the solstice forum posted a review about it and it was very promising.

Don't waste your money on that TB, just looks pretty and yields and since it's the same TB just bored like .03 or something similar your wasting your money. You'll get maybe 3whp for $200-300. Not good IMO

Good kill man! Why is it truck guys think just because they have a V-8 and 300+hp they can take on the world? True it may have 300+hp but it also weighs like 6000 pounds!

Its all power to weight.
