2.4SS vs. modded TC

I'll keep it short and sweet.

Theres a gunmetal TC in my area that always hangs out with all the giant, lifted diesel trunks for some reason, and he thinks he is THE ****, lol. Well I raced him way back when all I had was my AEM CAI and the TWM shifter from a roll.........owned him of course.

Well a few nights back im driving through the parking lot that all the giant trucks + the sole TC meet at to Sears go pick up some sodas and whatnot when they wave me over and start trash talking. The guys put an aftermarket exhaust and lowered the TC now, so of course, he thinks he's 10X faster now for some reason and wants to race again, so I agree. Normally im 100% against street racing, but I just can't stand this idiot, so my more adolescent side comes out to play.

We go to a stoplight thats exiting the town, and when the light turns green.........he STALLS! lol. Funny stuff.

So I take off and obviously own him. I slow up and he catches up to me by the time we get to the next light. Well, this time, no stall, but my 2.4 pulls on him hard and once again, for the 3rd time, I have beaten him.

So now, last night, im driving through the same parking lot, only to safeway this time, and of course they all see me.........but no stupid comments this time and I roll by them and go about my business.

This just goes to show.........that TCs.........dare I say it........are purely girl cars. Sure, they have an extensive aftermarket and you can make them pretty quick.......but deep down, they're nothing more than a fancied up new-age Celica.......a girl car.

tC's are trash. When I was in Guam and I had my '05 lancer ralliart, my buddy had a '06 tC with I/H/E springs, new rims and tires, carbon fiber hood. He tried to talk trash to me all the time. My ralliart was bone stock, never did anything to it. I beat him everytime, from a roll or at the strip. I got vids and timeslips to prove it all too.

Good kill. tC's are pigs. I have yet to race a built one, I hear they already made 350 hp NA.

And as far as Celicas being girl cars, the women get the autos (kinda like how every single woman on the planet has to own a red convertable Mustang). Men get standard. Stock 6 speed Celica GTS's can see mid 15's with a average driver to high 14's with a good driver stock. As far as modded Celica goes, a stripped I/H/E can see high 13's. Once some members get their I/H/E and CAM setups together, I bet they can see 13's without serious weight reduction.

Yeah celica's weigh what? 2300 lbs? Doesn't take a whole lotta juice to get them moving.

I like the Scion Tc s. They are clean looking rides. Good Kills though.
Good to know our 2.4l can spank yet ANOTHER car

yeah, my friend used to have an automatic TC w/ the Dezod turbo kit and a built motor running 10psi. I can't remember what it dynoed, but it was decently quick. It was a nice car though.....he had a Vis cf hood, Tein springs, Ingalls ETD, Greddy EVO2 cat-back, Nology hot-wires, Megan Racing boost gauge/pod, Sylvania silverstars, and of course the full turbo kit w/ Greddy E-Manage, but he's in the Navy, so he sold it and is stock pileing money now, b/c next time he gets back he's going to the Dodge dealership and buying a spakin' new Dodge Ram SRT-10. Kind of a drastic change I must say.......

If he had the Injen CAI that was more suited for the top end and a ported stock header which is also more suited for top end, he would've had a 13 second run easy. With a good tune, a NA GTS could see up to 190+ whp. When some builds are over, people might see 200+ whp from I/H/E and cams. This driver had minimal weight reduction done as well. The stock 6 speed GTS only weighs 2500 lbs. Here's a 6 speed GTS on a 75 shot of nitrous:

12 Second GTS. We're not as slow as you think. tC's are pigs. They are heavy. It would take 190 whp to have a tC weight/whp ratio equal a stock GTS weight/whp ratio of 15.3.

The one that ran a 12.8 was on slicks though, he only trapped at 106.

I never posted my loss..but I made the mistake of rolling on one (Celica GTS) a few months back. It sounded awesome as he pulled away from me pretty good. We started in 2nd and I only went to middle of 3rd before it was OVER. Those are far from chick cars if setup right. Light and fast. I remember seeing vids of GTSs giving Type Rs great runs on the highway. Ever since the PowerFC came online for those they got real fast real quick.

i crushed a GT-S was not much of a race at all...

then again...i guess a modded ss/sc vs a stock gt-s is nothing to gloat about lol

but i can see the GT-S moving pretty quick with some nice modding done to them

II've crushed a few GTS too. A few GSRs and scared the pooey out of a ITR that I got the jump on from a slow roll. Took him a LONG time to get by me.

However, this GTS checked out from me pretty damn quick so you can imagine my dismay!

hahahaha

yeah i tend to try to know what I'm lining up with...most of the ppl in my town with GT-S and GSR's are running stock or just I/E setups with obnoxious sound system and flashy head lights

...would not go talking **** to a GT-S or GSR owner at a track tho. lol
it will be the time i do and some guy runs my ass down doing the 1/4 in mid 12s and i look like a moron pulling mid-high 13's

Same here. However who suspected he had a black belt in speed. Seemed unassuming enough to me. No real rice or speed items that I could see except lowered and the exhaust. The only cars that pull on me that hard are usually the SS/SCs around here. I wonder if he sprayed me.....

This is a lot off topic but hav eyou ridden in one? What;s their 5th gear like on the highway...I heard it rather buzzy. Overall I heard the TCs are easily turbo'd and strong as hell short blocks. They use emanage right to tune?

actually i have ridden in it...its two of my buddies that i have gone to highschool with and 1 of them i played highschool ball with....He has the stage 0 turbo and i mean i see the potential...but i would rather have a car that sounds good and is quick than a tc where it is buzzy as hell....its not 5th gear its every gear they get on it....It was so bad i thought something was wrong with the car and i had to ask im like wtf is that noise?? Either way it is normal for that car...And that tc engine wants to be turbod but is not my kinda car at all
