My lil sister just got a 2006 eclipse and i wanted to see how my car would perform against it. My sister is not even 16 and doesnt know how to drive standard. (the eclipse is 2.4l standard and my cobalt is 2.2l automatic). I asked my mom to drive the eclipse to compare the 2 cars. on the first run 1/8 mile my car beat my sisters eclipse. (my mom didnt shift very good) on the second run i beat the eclipse by about half a car. i asked my mom to drive my car and i would drive the eclipse. we both punched the gas and took off. my cobalt started out stronger than my sisters eclipse. i threw it in 2nd gear and closed the gap but still ended up losing by about half a car length. i was in shock that my stock 2.2l cobalt ls kept up with a 2.4l eclipse. im very satisfied with the performance of my engine and cant wait till i put on a turbo or supercharger.

 

They are pretty porky...3300lbs or so.

Read Car and Drivers review. Not great engine is a heavy car.

As you can see times are very close to a 2.2L---your was auto so that does speak well of your ride

i believe the cobalts are right around 28-2900, give or take depending on options

 

hm I have a story, this lady (i thought it was a dude but the gf said it was a lady) was driving real fast by where I live. I kinda followed her lead and we ended up next to each other at the light and thats when I got a good look at the car. It was the GT v6 and a strange grey purple i dunno kinda color. I liked the car cus it does look nice but anyway ... the light turned green and the person let it fly and I took off as well and well it wasn't pretty. I didnt even need to switch to 3rd and I was already at least 3 cars away so I just put it in 5th and started to cruise.

edit: after reading my post it almost sounds like I lost the race which is far from the truth as it was I that had the lead and who won the race.

Inline 4, no such animal as a v4, at least not in cars anymore, even when they were aroud in cars v-4's were in Europe. Some boats and motorcycles use v4's though.
