2007 Honda Civic SI vs 2006 Cobalt SS/SC

Honda mods:
AJP turbo kit @ 8.5 PSI; stock internals
Upgraded clutch

Cobalt Mods:
RAW 3" Intake
Magnaflow muffler
OTT Stage 1

Here is the video of the turbo install on the honda. The numbers it puts down (361whp/275wtq) are NOT @ 8.5 psi, but on a little safer boost level for the car. I would guess around 6 psi.

The owner of the Honda is a good friend of mine. We agreed to run again whenever he tightens up his driving skills and I do a couple more things to my car. I have mad respect for him and his car!

***Race was filmed in Mexico City while we was on vacation this past summer.

ROLF the honda was a head from the start. why a 50 roll? actually not bad considering the SC is still well under 300whp. And I bet paid a @#$@#$ less than the honda did for mods...

i am going to have to agree i had a 07 si and was going to put the ajp kit on my car but didnt want to spend the money! so i bought a 08 SS/TC and can spend less than half of what it takes to build the SI and be just as fast..... AND for a brand new car ( when i bought it, the si) i had problems with the paint on the bumpers AND the trim on the doors kept peeling i had them replaced 2 times....... but not a bad car

when i looked at it to have everything done on the si it was like 5000 total to get there power wise like a year and a half ago prices could have changed now but for 5000 i would want more power...

Like it shows in the video he had the shop install the kit, so it cost him a pretty good bit of money. As it sits right now I only have about 1k into the car. When its all said and done i will have no more than 2k into the car and will hopefully be pretty quick. That's what he wanted so that's what he went for. That car has so much more potential, but I agree that's its pretty sick just like it is.

We went from a 50 roll because we was on the interstate. Couldn't really get down to 40 easily.

I'm not trying to knock on the si too much..but now he has a $30k car that barely beats a slightly modded SC SS. To each their own...

Yeah but a year from now you'll get more for your Si than your Cobalt. So it's not that bad.

Yeah but people still buy them like nuts and love them. Very well built cars. Not fast but nicely built.

Yeah thats a nice si but with all the money that he dumped into that you can twincharge the cobalt and get 400+ hp out of it, all in all nice racing.

and who are those people? old people and weird young guys. I find maybe the build nice, but they had clutch issues and still it doesnt perform as well as a 09 ss/tc so im not worried. The owners of a honda better stick with honda I dont want them with the same car i do.

Yeap or females. I see quite a few Si's rolling around town with ladies behind the wheel.
Hater!

Speaking of weird Honda guys, I ran into one the other day. I'm driving down I-94 at normal speeds when I encounter an Acura GS-R which appears to be stock other than your standard sticker mods. Here's the kicker, one of his bad-ass sticker mods read "Bye-bye, Love V-tec" which was placed above his right taillight. I continue at normal speeds and as I'm passing him, I'm chucking to myself when he looks at me and hammers it. He pulls on me because I'm laughing my ass off as I watch him putt, putt away. Score one for V-tak!!!

only if you can find someone dumb enough to pay that much its alllllll because of a stereotyped mentality. Honda owns have zero idea how many hidden recalls or tsb's their cars have.. ex gf's accord had 4-5 of them, they are hidden pretty well and no one gets letters for them.

thats the reason they have good resale. sure you can buy a SS/TC for 20k but because of that the Cobalt has horrible resale. why would you buy a used SS/TC for 20k when you can buy a new one.

the reason they have good resale is because they are expensive?

Honda's have "good" resale because the market of buyers of honda cars think that honda cars are the best thing out there.

You compare a si vs tc/ss in sales but with gm's financial problem, they are trying to sell most things at whatever they can. Honda didnt take a bail out and they are snooty as **** to start. I paid what I thought my SS was worth but you can find used SS's for easily 17k..not sure where you got 20.

At any rate I'm not trying to thread jack so back to the video.

not that they are more expensive. its the fact that GM has crazy incentives and offers that the imports like Honda and Toyota don't. when you can buy a new car for thousands below MSRP it lowers the resale value.

just like the price of used Evo X's went down tremendously when Mitsubishi started blowing them out for cheap. i bought my brand new Evo for cheaper than some used ones at the dealership with 10k miles on them.

I guess I dont understand how an incentive at purchase of a new vehicle is correlated with resale many years down the road of that used. People dont buy a car and sell it 1 yr later to make money...even a honda depreciates. Like I said its the honda buyers that keep the price up. If they want to buy a 300k 1985 civic for $5-7k fine, I wouldnt touch that pos. you can only sell a car for $X if you have a buyer willing to pay that. There was a mugen civic si on the lot up here for almost a year, hell I bet its still for sale, for 27-28k. No one in their right mind would pay that much and they wont budge the price.

Evo's sold cheap because mitsu though they were about to pull out of the US. I only had a 1k incentive on my SS, I negotiated the price to where I wanted it. So the resale on your vehicle should be really low, actually extremely low...
