2010 ms3

So me and my buddies decided to line them up across the bridge.
my Mods are in the sig.
98 Cobra is intake and exhuast
2010 MS3 is stock

Rolled from a 30 (2nd gear ftw)

I pulled a car and a half on MS3...Cobra left us both

well I know most cobalts ss/sc with 2.6 pulleys have to either run meth or e85 to make power with a pulley that small, if he is running pure 93 pump Im 99.9% sure he is heat soaking his car and may even have knock up top due to heat and the timing will start pulling. That small of a pulley requires alot of cooling to allow it to make the kinda power it can put down, with that being said if his car is setup correct for that pulley he should be easy 290 to 300 hp with either meth or e85. But thats the question is the car setup for that pulley.

Yeah if he was on E which I think hes not, he would of pulled busses on the stock ms3 and it would of been a way closer race against the cobra.... But another win for the ss against ms3.

Hey Guys, Yeah im on Pump gas, and as far as cooling all i have is the CX Heat Exchanger, I know I should be running meth or E but I'm hesitant to do so. I heard a lot of horror stories about meth and pumps going out. And as far as E goes, I have the typical fear of what stations around me sell it and the loss of MPG's. If I do decide to go towards E85 it would be this summer. I don't believe I have any knock but I do know I have a slight belt slip right before redline. I just can't decide between going with a bigger pulley or getting the mods to support the 2.6...(I bought it with the 2.6 if that clears anything up)

vander you don't know what you are talking about.. modded cars don't need cooling mods... just ask an online dictionary

id ether go up to a 2.8 and get a dual pass if u dont have one or get tuned for e or meth also get retuned and make sure ur pump is working.

Yeah I'm not sure what I wanna do yet, I really want to save up for a turbo or TVS swap but at 97,XXX miles idk if thats a good idea, and I prolly do need a retune regardless because I talk to James and my car was tuned like 4 years ago...and I just replaced my pump when I bought the car a couple monthes ago..Currently Im trying to get a wideband,STS, and catless DP

do u have an interceptor gauge to watch ur iat2 and knock? ur cars tune could be off since its been that long and fuel changes and if it was running a 2.6 pulley It was prolly tuned to the more aggressive side im sure.

Unfortunately I dont, Im a poor college student paycheck to paycheck saving up for parts lol, I bought the car a few months ago and had to put a new clutch in it so I'm still paying off that so once i get done with that i'll be able to start getting some stuff. I know i really shouldnt be doing anything like this with it but i usually dont race or anything but like twice a month...day to day im a MPG master lol

not really. Some guys made more power with bigger pulley. U gotta think less heat = more power. If u just put heat in ur motor it will go slower. u might gain more HP ull lose some TQ

His weight advantage should well make up for that 30whp. That cobra weighs like 600lbs-800lbs heavier than the cobalt. I think something might be up, but good kill none the less.

If ur car is heat soaking from that 2.6 u will prolly feel a proformance gain, also try and work something out woth james to get retuned and to log ur ca make sure its knocking, im sure james will work something out with u he is a good guy so if u just talk to him i think he can help u out but ur next two buys need to be a 2.8 pulley and an interceptor. Unless ur gonna add meth injection or go e85 then u dont need to be running a 2.6 pulley it causes alot of heat and i can beat u have knock and just from watching ur car vs that corba i know ur heat soaking it with that pulley.

Thanks for all the advice guys, I posted in a local forum (not cobalt specific) as well and everyone was saying that either that either my car is experiencing performance loss somewhere or that cobra lied about whats done to it. But after reading this it seems like its heat soaking and possible knock. So I'll defiantly up those two things on my list because I don't plan on doing E or Meth, Just too much hassle for a College student DD.
