2011 5.0 mustang vs ss/tc (vids!)

found a guy with a 5.0 to race last night. we had 2 runs. first one was a dig, he let off right as i was passing him... typical mustang behavior

2011 5.0 mustang vs cobalt ss dig race - YouTube

next race was a 40 roll. it was about 60 degrees out that night and my turbo was loving it.

2011 5.0 mustang vs cobalt ss - YouTube

5.0 was stock with brembo package and i think he had the 3.73 gearing as well. theyre really not as fast as everyone says they are. i also stomped an e92 m3 a week ago with the same results as the race with the 5.0 here.

Good kill. Props to giving him a dig, I don't think 90% or more of the owners on this forum would do that to any RWD or AWD car.

Eh, to be honest it's almost hopeless with anything on the street. Just have to get the feel for pedaling through it.

i know it would still spin from a dig, but it should grab sooner. and i need drag radials mainly from a 40 roll. my car should be making about 400tq and it would be nice if it would grab from a 40 instead of spin for a second or two.

Bolded your problem. Hankook's are horrible for acceleration.

You realize Ford offers a Whipple Blower package for the new 5.0's with the full warranty still intact right?

I didn't like the 555's, see below

Not many people get it because for the price Ford charges, you could be making a lot more power.

So did I, that's why I tried them. For reference, my BFG KDW II street tires hook better on the street and at the track. Straight line and around curves.

Good tune, intake and simple exhaust ( not header back just axle back muffler delete ) will make a 5.0 a totally different beast. Ask me how I know . They are quick for stock cars , 107- 110 is not a ( slacking ) of a car but with those mods they can trap 116 - 119 and that is under 1k of mods. I could pull my buddy till 125 in his m6 5.0 when he was stock but now that he has a intake, exhuast, and tune he totally rapes me after 100.

Great kills Dart keep up the good work.

I guess I fall in that 10% because I love me a good dig race. I was actually doing some spirited driving yesterday with a new 5.0. Good races OP!
