2012 Ford Focus vs. Cobalt.. Harse Topic.

So a buddy of mine is planning on buying one of these. What is your take on this car?

a turbocharged 2.0-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine with 247 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque; a six-speed manual transmission and Ford's new torque-vectoring power control system.

So lets give some honest Opinions on this car.

I really like it, but I'd prefer it in a different color. The orange for a sporty car is way too played up.

Yes, this is Fords US version of the Focus RS, which is basically a faster, and if I might say better looking version of this. I hate the way those seats look. Looks fun to drive though. Gonna be FWD I would guess, since the RS is FWD.

I do like the RS better, instead of that supadupa front grill on the ST, the RS looks purdy nice.

This car is coming out in Canada/USA.. The car looks great other then that front grill. and the fact it weighs a ton, after-market parts will cost a fortune... the exhaust cannot be modified as far is i have heard from friends working for Ford.

I don't think there is any car that exhaust can't be modified on.

This one apparently cant be altered.. Some sort of electronic thing. Again.. this is what i was told by an SVT ford employee.

I'm sure this car will be faster then our cobalts.. but doing any sort of performance upgrades will cost a fortune on top of the already expensive price tag..

My main issues with this car are.
1. Ugly as sin
2. FORD
3. Expensive.
4. Aftermarket parts will be pricey as hell.
5. Too much going on inside, (takes away from the sport feel)
6. HEAVY
7. Aftermarket parts will take a while to be designed in the first place.

Other then that.. It offers

1.Electronic torque-vectoring power control system.
2.Stock LSD
3. Lots of torque.
4. Lots of HP.
5. Recaro seats look comfy as hell.
6. LED eyebrows (European version) not sure if it will stick on the US version.
7. center-mounted dual exhaust pipe looks wicked.
8. 6-speed manual gearbox, optimized with sporting ratios
9. 19 inch wheels.
10. Rear View Cam STOCK
11. lowered chassis
12. gauges for turbo boost, oil pressure and oil temperature are housed in a dedicated binnacle on the upper instrument panel
13. A very nice interior compared to other vehicles in its class.

All in all its a very nice car. Maybe ford finally made a good car..

Its quite the toss up.. You get a lot for the 30k (Speculated price)

The cruze is an Epic Fail.... I am outraged Chev is even making it. Why not improve on the Cobalt which has a good track record other then the power steering issue.

im with you there. they should have done a revamp of the cobalt with perhaps a completley upgraded intrior materials (not necasarily how it looks or the ss seats but the dash and entertanment could use a refresh and the center console and ebrake could all use different look and feel..

perhaps telescopic steering wheel.... maybe AWD lol

I'm not a fan of the outside or the very high price. The interior looks pretty cool but it is busy looking.

People bitch about high car prices and high weigh then complain that GM wouldn't make an AWD compact car. How much money and pounds is that going to add to the car? Its not gonna be pretty.
