400hp GOATvs 06 SS/SC

alright heres the deal... this lucky kid pushed on a door of a school and the glass broke on him and he comes out of it with $200,000 so he goes and buys one of those 6speed RWD 400hp goats

im on a stage 2 with tune and i have Injen intake cti race header and dp and corsa exaust

i figure im running about 260hp untuned

we go from a 40 roll and he can only put 2 cars on me???????

WTF how can someone with 140 more horse and god knows how much more torque only put 2 cars on me???

i know he weighs more but god damn!!

Maybe the kid can't drive? The glass maybe rubs in the inside of his hands when he shifts? lol
Race from a dig and that car length is going to be more like 3-4, either way good run. You know its hard to belive how much 2 cars is when it comes to times at the 1/4th.

The GTO's don't make 400whp. In a RWD application he is likely making in the 330whp range or less. If you take into consideration the added weight he has, which is about 800lbs more than the Cobalt the race should be pretty damn close.

im sure they are putting down more than 330 hp, but it does weigh a ton. about 3800 if im not mistaken. if you really do think you are putting down 260 to the wheels then he shouldnt be putting too many car lengths on you. he should still win, but just not as bad. his weight, just like the new gt 500 cobra / mustang , is what bring him down. i think that gt 500 has 500 hp but it weighs nearly 3800 pounds as well, so the new vette with the ls2 w/ 400 hp can still beat it.

A 6.0 GTO puts down about 350-360 to the rear wheels and I watched a dyno of the GT500 and it put down 429!

A LS1/LS2 will not have full power without some miles on it. SS/SC Stage 2 vs GTO LS2 should be about 4-5 cars from a roll and 5-6 from a dig in the 1/4.

I traded my SS/SC Stage 2 in on my GTO and I know from races and just driving my SS/SC that it wouldn't stay within 2 cars from a roll.

By the way guys:

GTO = 3685lbs
GT500 = 4000lbs
03/04 Cobra = 3750lbs

You have to realize that its all about the weight to horsepower ratio. He is alot heavier then us.

I would of thought closer also. I am stock and raced my friends gto (ls2, cat back, four people in car total around 650 body weight) with just me in car (aem dryflow) and from 40-115 he only got one car length in front of me. I was hoping with mods like that I would be able to nose him out.

I've raced two 5.7 GTOs and both time we were side by side (neither from a dig). He started pulling at 100, but that's what I expected

weight matters SO much thats pretty much what im trying to say , if that gto wouldnt have had 650 lbs of body weight just add 1 car for every 100 pounds or so , maybe 1 car for every 120 lbs since your roll racing it wont be as big of a difference as dig racing

yeah but the 5.7s and the 6.0s are like comparing a stage 2 cobalt ss/sc vs a stock one , 5.7's run like 13.8-14.0 , the 6.0 gto's run 13.1-13.4 depending on the driver , WAY FASTER , i would think that a stage 2 cobalt with intake and just cat back could run dead even with a stock 5.7 GTO , from a 40 roll

hahahahah dont make me get hatrickstu's video out of the archive

yeah there not slow but there not utterly fast there quick for stock nice platform to mod and you can get them dirt cheap now used with low milage , very comparable to the new mustang gt

makes a lot of sense condsidering
ss/sc stage 2 weight/whp ~ 12.08
gto stock weight/whp ~ 10.57

much better power to wieght ratio for the Gto. Note this assumes gto LS2 weighs 3700 lbs and makes 350rwhp. Stage 2 cobalt weighs 2900 and makes 240 whp.
