Altima 3.5 vs Camaro LS1
Altima 3.5 vs Camaro LS1
Happened near Belleville, IL. Actually passed a nice lookin' black Cobalt SS and saw a nice looking clean Camaro just ahead of him, not sure if Z28 or SS but I've always wanted to run one to see how I do compared to one. Cruised by him, dude in Camaro gives me a nod as I came up on him kinda quick, then I slowed down and I think we both hit it about the same time with me being half car ahead of him from a 75 roll.
He starts pulling right away in the midrange, although not that hard, as my car passes 5500rpm I'm able to stay ground for a bit with my nose at his rear bumper, shift to 4th at 105 and we shut it down about 115 with him having one car on me.
It was a fun race... love LS1's in those lightweight Camaros.

Shut up fellow troll! haha I actually know a couple guys on here. But mostly these fools here just love the street racing.
I've seen a few Z28s here actually.

So wait, i'm confused. No offense carlson, but these guys are always talking about how Cobalts rape 350Z's but your Altima is keeping pace with LS1 Camaro's? Things that make you go Hmmmmm.
both times i've raced one it was dead even from 40 and he even had a passenger.
from a 60, **** wasn't close.
Yeah for a lightly bolt on altima to slow the pull of the camaro on the highway doesn't make much sense (is that thing even tuned?). His is the older less powerful model and the new ones can't even break a 100 at the traps. If anything it sounds like a A4 starting in 3rd since 80 is about where second tops at if i am not mistaken.

You sound like all of the SC guys that said they'd destroy me and yet I've beat every stock SC easily and run fairly close with TC's and modded SCs. Members here back me up.
Good questions, it didn't take me long to notice that a lot of cobalt guys like to hide or flat out lie about having mods and/or a tune to F with people thinking a stock cobalt beat them badly. I can pull slightly on 350z's with the non-HR engine. HR Z's (06+) really pick it up above 90mph. They will walk a stock TC. I've raced each back to back. The TC and I are about even from a dig to 95, when the TC will slowly walk me, the slightly modded Nismo 350z started to walk me a bit quick around 85, below that I ran even with him including my passenger filming.
thanks for commenting. it's true, and not sure if the Camaro was a 6M or 4A. My car trapped 99mph in 100degree weather spinning much of first and second gear with my all-seasons. I had a half car jump on him, and he finished with a car between us. Sounds about right, assuming it was near stock other than exhaust, those cars trap around 102-104 often.

wow, you guys bench race even when responding within threads.
Man, I never said I could beat your SS. Not sure where you're going with that... I have no idea what your car runs. If it's stock, I think you'll eat your words about having 'no chance.' For all I know you are bolted and tuned, run mid 12s @113, like a lot of SS Cobalts are capable of. That would destroy my car, yes.
Not sure where I said I hung right with him. Got walked like I said, he gave me a thumbs up and had a crazy look on his face looking at an Altima. That's what's nice about an altima, people don't expect them to be decently quick. There's guys with i/h/e without tunes running 13.5 @ 104 on street tires. An '07 Altima 6MT with only a WAI and y-pipe ran 13.2@104.7 with slicks. Nothing to brag about, but not too shabby.

its more like mid 12s at 108. but ya, u get my drift. Stock ls1 camaros with good drivers are well WELL into the 13s

Sadly, other than some intake spacers or IM butterfly delete, I/H/E is all that's available for the Altima. Yeah, there are cams out there, but they don't really do squat for the money. Although there is a project just getting started on a RWD conversion with a 5.6L from a Titan going into it... that'll be interesting to see if it goes together.
