So some friends from work are friends with a guy who has a 2004 Rx8 with $5,000 worth of mods (a lot of that is in the suspension) and we did a little highway run (in mexico of course). We started from a 50mph roll and I gave him the hit and long story short I won by about 4 cars. We will race from a dig and 10 or 20 roll (he wants to really bad) so we can see if hes closer on the low end since he is N/A and im Tiny Turbo'ed. Will get video of the next race. Stay tuned.

I dont know the full list of mods of his car but $5,000 should say something.

 

if he was smart, $5000 would say turbo kit.

Ya, it was kinda sketchy making a 1 day drive down their, bunch mexican drug runners were shooting as us so we had a reason to get the hell out of dodge so i let him get the hit since i knew my car was faster

 

well i mean if he has a decent exhaust and suspension work then there goes the 5k, i know from experience i use to own one, its an expensive car to mod, 5k will only get you maybe a greddy turbo, but the car still won't move in a striaght line quick

 

my friend has the same stuff done to his rx8 i believe, but itl kill any of us in autox. lol. its no joke.

 

yeah the car is beast in corners it handles like no other.......i actually played around in one yesterday at my friends job we took it out and i did some crazy 360s in it thanks to the bald rear tires, brought a smile to my face, but i did appreciate the power of the ss so much more after driving an 8 again

 

From a dig he may get the jump on you but you should be able to pull away pretty quick. Those RX8 are great for autoXing and they are quick in the corners, but without a turbo they are no match for a modded LNF in a straight line.

well I know but considering the rx8 isnt torqy to begin with that would be something I'd drop some money into. Although I know they are known for their handling....

 

Good kill! Border Patrol are actually pretty cool. Once a friend and I went through the all the twisties on a mountain near the border and we were going pretty fast. We passed a border patrol and all he did was stop us to make sure we weren't running from anyone. Then we talked about the car and he let us go. I would be more afraid of pissing off someone in the cartel.

Good kill. $5000 doesn't do much for an RX8 though, even if it was all in the motor.

 

pretty much, unless you dump the clutch at 6K, thats about the only way youre hitting 14s in the 1/4. I test drove one for about 45mins. Beat the hell out of it. Car is serious fun! Like a 4 door, 4 seat friggen go cart.

 

i dynoed a turxo rx8 and it made 120 hp.. dont worry about it. there slow as ****

They make 140-150 stock. I just looked into rx8's, they turbo to 300hp fine and can go over 400. So the one you dyno'd either you lie or it was broken as hell.

ya idk man. You know some f'd up people get cars and do screwy **** to them. I kinda want one....really bad...god I'd love to rebuilt a rotary engine...so fun and small!

 

I couldn't stand to be a part of the RX8 community. They overhype their cars so much.
