Beat a GT lost to a Cobra

Last night cruisin on 31 a red '03 or so stang GT comes up quick behind and pulls up beside. He wont look over but he toys to race. I drop it down about 4 grand doin 40 and wait for him to goose it. I pin it right after he does so he gets a little jump but i immedeately start gaining it back as soon as i get gain half a car on him i shut it down cuz things start getting to fast for that part of town. We eventually pull up to a light and go from a dig. He gets a 1-1/2 - 2 car jump right off the bat but i still reel him in even after a clutch slip from 1st to second, i once again gain my half a car lead and shut it down, we both know who won. He wouldnt look over and soon crossed two lanes to turn off, guess he couldnt except the truth.

Later that night samme road a mid 90's non-supercharged cobra comes up behind me and his passenger is waving and throwing the finger and all kinds of ghetto stupid ****. Im not about the drama and **** talking so i keep the window rolled up and downshift to let him know im ready. Took him a couple miles to finally go but we went from about 40 or so I started to pull at first but he slowly gained and then we about evened out with neither gaining and had to shut down. Went from another roll soon after and he gained from the start and kept gaining slowly. Pulled up next to him at the light and he ended up being cool said it was a good race and he liked the car, we went our seperate ways. He also said the car was bone stock but hard tellin it did seem stock.

Overall im satisfied, i did not expect to beat the cobra with just intake and average driver so no dissapointment there. But i would have liked to have seen his buddys face after pulling on them. Guess its time for stage 2, and ive got the gmpp exhaust manifold at home just need to get some exhaust. I think the results would have been quite different with those mods.

yeah like the 94 style Cobras weren't supercharged they didn't make that much hp, and weren't actually that much faster than a cobalt, good kill.

94-95 I believe were about 240 hp, then they jumped to 305 for a while. If you beat a GT, I expect the one that beat you was one of the 305 hp models.

The 1995-1998 Cobra is equal to a 1999-2004 GT so you would've killed it too. It must have been a 1999+ N/A Cobra which from a roll is a good race for a very lightly modded SS/SC.

Add Stage 2 and there toast.

Try 1997 and above. The 1994-95 cobra had the 5.0 in it and dont run that well.

The 94 Cobra was only rated at 15.3 in the 1/4 mile- this is probably the one you raced.

94-95 Cobra = 5.0
96-98 Cobra = 4V 4.6

Same body style, different tail lights. Theres not mistaking a 94-98 with a 99 or 01, and especially not a 03/04.

Sorry I didn't mean to type 1995.

The 1995 Cobra is pretty funny though.

Hed win. Those cars are 13 second cars. Hell Ive seen a 99-04 GT run a 14.1 with stock everything. From a 45 hed rape you with his torque.

From a roll with Stage 2 05-06 GT's are an easy kill, I laugh my ass off every time.

Like previous Mustang GT's all of there quickness comes from nice 60ft & 1/8 mile times.

That's a pathetic time, even for a stock 5.0 Cobra. My V6 Mustang was capable of that bone stock.

you're preching to a preacher. I was merely distinguishing between SN-95 (94-98) and New Edge (99, 01, 03/04) Cobras for anyone who was unsure. And there was no such thing as a 2000 Cobra. ( i know about the 300 R's). There was however an 02 Cobra available in Australia only. The 02 Cobra slated for the states had a measly N/A 345hp; fortunately its demise paved the way for the Terminator program.

I can go on

I wasn't trying to insult you. I know no '00 cobra's were made do to the screw-up with the '99. The factory did not have enough room to produce '00 snakes and produce the new exhaust systems and intake manifolds to fix the '99s. Yes, John Coletti was disappointed with the n/a upgrades to the motor, so he decided it would be cheaper to supercharge it. This was also a good marketing move because the SVT crew knew how popular it was for cobra owners to install blowers in their cars, so having one stock would be a great seller.

Yea 240, then 305 till 2002 with the exception of the Cobra-R.

Just to add my 2 cents, IMO the 1993 cobra was the sickest. I have a buddy who used to have two of them in Dallas. A teal one and a red one. That red one was way fast, would run low 12's NA. It was pretty modded though, but no NOS or forced induction, just way fast.

who would want to just barely win for the sake of just playing? I know when I'm racing someone no matter who it is I'd like to pull as hard as I can on them. Who wants a Cobra that can barely beat a Cobalt with an intake?
