So a while back ago I was at the arcade its a local hangout for my friends and I. Me and my girl got there and starting heading to the parking lot we see a nissan 240sx I was like ah ok but it looked like **** it need work bad, so I left it alone. We get in and were talking to a few my frineds my girl goes to talk to a buddy as im leaving her I see this fat guy and he said something toward my girls way.

She comes up to me is like "did you hear that"
I was like "Hear what"
she said "that fat guy just yelled out chevys are'nt made for racing"
I was liike "whhatt" I was staring to get pissed. Im thinking to myself what about Monte Carlo's SS in nascar, Impalas, Corvetts and drags and what not. They're not made for racing! what the F*&^. So I didnt want to go crazy so I sent my cousin over there to ask that fat guy what he drives. So he comes back and he says to me "he said he drives a 240" I was like ahh ok thats that crappy 240.

So I go outside me and my girl are talking she then chimes in with I think thats the 240 that tried to race us. Then it hits me a few months ago we were crusin down Ming (the main street were crusin goes down in bako) on a late saturday night. When this crappy white car comes by driving by this asian guy with a bunch of other guys in the car. I was low on gas so didnt really push anything but I did pass him up and he was having trouble keeping up. So I started laughin instead of getting angry. Then the fat guy and a couple asian guys come out side and we still kept laughing. Then we see the fat guy and his buds leave and its not even the fat guys car he jumps in the back seat and the asian guy drives. He's talking **** and he is not even in the place to do so. So next time I see him and his buds its on to show him that Chevys are made to race.

That was like the guy I met today. I work at American Powersports... ATV's, Dirtbikes, CROTCH ROCKETS, etc... Polaris, SKi-doo & Sea-doo's, Yamaha's, and Suzuki's. ANYWAYS, I come back from lunch... Roar into the parking lot... and when I get inside (I work in Parts (If you need performance parts for anything gimme a shout... dealer cost!!!) and there this guy is...

"Hey, you drive that red Cobalt?"
"Yeah, pretty sweet ain't it... Super Sweet in fact!"
"Yeah, but I bet my 'Busa could take it."
***STUNNED***
"Well, I ****** HOPE so!"

Where do these people come from? How do their brains work? I just can't believe what some people say sometimes.

lol that's funny...i was reading Road and Track today, and they were comparing the CHEVROLET C6 Z06 to supercars that cost 5-10 times the cost of the Vette. (and believe me, the Z06 held it's own) Screw these people, they're just jealous haters

 

I read that too....haters...you know whats funny I also read the new SCC. It had the new mazdaspeed 3...of course...still no real specs given on times....but they named its competition....pretty much all the usuallys...srt4...old and new....rsx, wrx, evo, sti, focus rs????? not even a production vehicle. Except I was stunned that the cobalt ss/sc was not even mentioned!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Focus RS? They don't even sell those here. Besides, they only have 212hp

But me and 3 buddys were a starbucks and there were a bunch of ricer kids there mostly stock civics and what not. But there was one Del sol with a full body kit ect.. and as me and my friends left I drove by his car and reved it looking over at him. He yelled out "WHAT? ILL RAPE YOU" THEN I SAID "YOU WANA GO?" I reved it hard and he heard a touch of the sc he than said"oh you have the supecharged one" then he waved me off hahahah me and my buddys were lafing so hard it was great.

 

So how is reving "really hard" for no reason not a ricer thing to do?

I love to tell that story. Everyone talks about Ferrari's being fast, and I always chime in with the ZO6 story. For $80K, you can beat damn near anything out there, including the custom ones.

 

Well at the "lil" AL/GA meet yesterday a guy in a Jeep drives by and yells "Cobalts Suck!" He then makes the corner and says "I got more between my legs you mother****ers!" I'm thinking well in the world of motors a 2.0 is very small. So I'm thinking he has the LDS syndrome.

 

Eh, sometimes its good to be an "underdog". If people dont want to believe what the cobalt is doing the then they can figure out sooner or later.

 

Yeah it works well that way. Not that I would bother on the street, but if I did it would be fun.

 

Well I didnt rev it really hard. But yes its ricer but you have to speak the same language haha whatever.

That's what's cool about the LSJ package is its off everyone's radar so you pretty much can surprise a LOT of people out there. My favorite used to be surprising the idiots in the G35s and 350Zs oh and also the IS300 idiots. And hell, the big V-8s that beat you, all you have to do is ask them if its a V-6 under the hood, when they answer (and they always do) "no its a V-8", then you can say, "Wow really? I'm only pushing a 4-banger!" Gets em every time.

 

I have been reading SCC for a few years too. The funny thing is, from time to time, you'll see letters mentioning the SS/SC, and the editor's response is always something like: "We are working on something..."
The only mention I have seen of it outside readers comments, is a quick blurb during their RSX build. They mention the Quaife they put in the RSX and really quickly say it's an option on the Cobalt.

I do think that part of the problem is the model confusion that comes from having a Supercharged SS and a non-supercharged SS. As mentioned above, with the Del Sol incident, basically if you aren't reading this site, most people just have no clue.

 

Exactly I have had so many people tell me my car was slow then I just take them for a ride or race them. Its funny I ve gotten "its suprisingly fast" like 2 or 3 times. Yah faster than your car BITCH. Nobody gets it. Oh well it is fun being the under dog but it would be nice to get a wee bit of respect.
Its not like the cobalt is the fastest coupe out there but it is very quick and no slouch handling\straight and it murders alot of cars that are more$.

 

I kinda like the underdog thang. You dont get every ricer in town trying race ya. Hmm, if ricers are leaving me be, then da boys in blue are too! (laughing to myself as I pass yet another Japanese tinker toy with a wing large nuff to land a 767 jet pulled over by the man)
