Civic Si vs G5 GT

sooo, I was on the freeway, cruise control on at like 115km/h in the right lane then I see this white civic (2006+) coming very quickly in the left rearview mirror..

so I let him go and jump behind him, it was a guy from nova scotia or something like that, the red plates..

anyways so I was still in 5th gear and he already had his roll so obviously he pulled away a little then he stopped because of traffic.

The next time he had an opening I was in 4th gear at like 3500RPM and uh.. now we were talking, I mean I was literally riding is ass.. and had to back off the throttle to keep a "safe" distance (more like not bump him in the back)

on the 3rd attempt (after some fooling around) I had space to go full throttle behind him and I passed him quite easily and yes from the sound of it this little v-tec was definitely trying!

conclusion they're not that great on the highway, the guy looked cool but drove like an ass I mean it's a matter of minutes before he gets a ticket..

I'm not 100% stock though (K&N intake and Vector tune)

u won because the guy didnt really race u...and vtec is not a "mini-boost" thing...it has nothing to do with boost..its a change in the cam profile at a certain rpm.

first off torque has nothing to do with a freeway race douche..and second a 2.4 ecotec has 163 lb-ft of torque and he raced a K20A3 which has 132 lb-ft of torque..so a 2.0 honda engine has 31 lb-ft of torque less than a 2.4 chevy engine...hmm...not good with math huh? let me break it down for u....

the days of honda not having torque is over ***.

i would hardly call having 132lb-ft of torque is means to say that the days of honda not having torque is over..to me 132 seems a wee bit small still

btw i raced a honda civic yesterday..guy had an N sign in the back (new driver) so he was just a punk racer..freaken he was darting in between cars cutting ppl off like crazy ! freaken ricer driving man!..oh did i mention he had a big tac on the dash LOL....oh pointless note-> i beat him badly

how is 132 on a 2.0 naturally aspirated 4cylinder a wee bit small? what are u comparing it too a corvette? lol...i was referring to someone saying that the reason a 2.4 gt beat a civic si was because the si had no torque. nothing more nothing less. to get in a pissing match because u beat a si with ur boosted cobalt means nothing to me...

i love when people pick on a car group of people because of some punks they see around town. if ur such a die hard tuner and are really down with ur car then go race someone that is the same way in a civic...i beat the outcome wont be the same.

its just a form of variable valve time. The way their cam lobe is set up gives them a spurt of power in the higher RPMs.

wow, you need to chill....i understand that you have a hb and you feel hurt when people mention the fact that civics have no torque..well so what if they don't, they don't need it cause they are so light..now, you said that a s/c cobalt beating a si does not impress you, well who said that he was trying to impress you??...now you said something about racing a car thats also boosted, i think thats just stupid from your part.....we both know that some hondas out there are all motor and walk all over boosted cars., you race what you bring......

driving like an ass cause he was changing lanes like a madman and his cruising speed was in ticket zone whereas other than my pulls with him (that involved only one safe lane change) I don't drive like an idiot.

And yes, he was trying, honestly they're not that fast just look up the times even from a dead stop numbers are quite close and I assume he was stock while I'm not.

Also out of 3 or so pulls I think it was quite clear and I wasn't pulling like 20kmh from him but enough to pass him on the last one.

anyways I don't want to turn this into such a debate.. I know what happened and it's not like it's something so incredible either.
