Civic vs. Z06... what would you do???

Let me give you some insight on the Honda!!

91 Civic Hatch.... Dart Block B18 (built by JUN) Jun stroker kit, fully sleeved, 8.5:1 JE pistons, Crower H-Beam rods, ARP studs and bolts, B18C5 head, 3 angle valve job, Ferrera Titanium valves, triple valve springs, and titanium retainers (SP??), Skunk2 Stage 4 cams! Okay now for the fun stuff.... A turbonetics T60-1 turbo, custom top mount manifold (friggin' slick lookin'!), Spearco FMIC, complete fuel system upgrades, from an STR competition fuel rail, RC engineering injectors, VORTECH fuel regulator, and RC engineering fuel pump, JDM Integra Type R tranny, with LSD rebuilt to handle up to 800HP, and Stage 5 axels....... Okay well it looks like poop from the outside, we haven't gotten around to fixin' the outsides yet... so it still has the rattle can flat black paint, and white bumpers, and 1 red door.... a real looker! So his dads friend a few months back bought a 2006 Z06 in jet black with the black magnesium wheels... sweet ass car by the way, and wants to race him for $1000.00!!!!! DO YOU THINK HE SHOULD! I TOLD HIM YES!!! Okay here in town my buddy dynoed tuned his car and made just over 625 hp, and 429.3 ft/lbs at 8800 rpm!

I have no idea man, if the honda is pushing 600 horses he should beat the vette. You know its going to be about traction though....

Yeah, he's running some 15" steelies right now with I think like 235/r15 Nitto NT555 drag radials... he's got all the traction controlling items on it... His turbo takes forever to spool so I think he'll be okay (i hope...) I helped him build the damn car! His best run thus far has been a 11.83 at 114.5 but that was with a rough tune and smaller tires! Spun over halfway down the track!

i dunno man if hes dynoing 600HP he should be running 10's civics dont weigh any more than 2800 pounds **** a vette weighs 3300 and has 505 hp plus the civic shifts at like 9,000 rpms to tell you the truth the civic should waste the vette pretty bad

Are they doing this at the track? Do you happen to know how good of a driver the Z06 owner is? Reason being is 11.8 is fairly attainable in a well driven stock C6 Z06 assuming it gets traction.

Yeah, he deff should be runnng 10's if not 9's.... he just had some 205 Falken Azenis Road race tires on the first drag runs... he actually has wider rims and drag radials on it now... plus it's tuned better, it's been snowy and nasty for the last few weeks since we got it running, so we haven't been back to the track, If he runs it I will get it on video and post it on here, the Hatch is f'in sick sounding.... 30lbs of boost, and a lumpy cam on a Honda....

Well as far as the vette owner, don't really know.... Yeah it's going to be at the track once they open up free runs again here in Feb.... All I know is the Vette is his "MID LIFE CRISIS" car, and thats all I know... He had a Toyota Avalon before it... so take that for what it's worth! Honestly his civic should be running low 10's if not high 9s.... so we'll see he is tryin' to baby it right now until it gets broken in a little bit more.... this was our "REAL" first build up since his B16 (3 years ago) but nothing to this magnatude!

haha an avalon , how many miles does the vette have on it , 11.8 is attainable if you can drive pretty good but i could definately see a stock zo6 run a 12.0 or higher miss a shift redline

Take that $1000 bucks and run. You have to pay for those parts somehow!

Tell your friend with the Honda to not waste money on "built" trannies and he needs to add at least another 150hp to run 9s, especially on DRs.

11.8 in a vette is a decent number. Hopefully the vette wont have drag radials on at the strip. Ive seen 10.8 completely stock. But hell yeah, they should race! A Civic beating a Z06 is just awesome.

Those new Z06's are bad stock. Is it stock is the question? If he can afford a Z06, he can afford mods. I have seen those new vets run 9 to 10's modded with drag radials. This should be on the show Pinks. Screw a $1000's, race for slips on national TV. It could really be anybodys race, and would be a damm good episode.

well central florida turbo has a 550hp late 90's civic si it runs a 10.5 and has no back seats and no power steering also trucked into the track...its a driver seat and engine- yea its nasty and pulls on supra's- however im bias I admite and think if the vette driver is good enought to get 11.8 ...it's over. And if its a lengen felter vette...i wouldn't dream of putting a honda withing two parking spaces from it.

http://tunedbycft.com/cms/<----go to the video's section and watch that Si- and I have scene videos of the same car being trucked in and have scene the interior.

We need more info on the vette. If the vette owner is truly into the car he'd mod the **** out of it.

For now I have a feeling, and i'm putting my money on the Z06, those ******* are bad ass.

mods on the z06? if he's stock, it will be a good race... it the z06 is not stock, then i think it will be over for your friend...

i'm wondering if he will really race though... usually when someone throws out a large number like 1,000 dollars, it's because they want to scare the other person into not racing...

With a Good driver in the vette and from a dead stop the honda will not win..from a roll the honda might win... again driver against driver...

here is a stock C6 Z06 here with slicks and you would think he is on the bottle he beats 800whp kenny bell cobra's and 800hp supra's thing is super fast...and stock with slicks!

so depends if the Z06 and the driver...but it would be fun but you have to get it on vid!

Okay, I just got of the phone with my buddy.... The vette is stock running the stock tires and wheels..... the honda just got a new set of spoon fat fives in 5x9 with slicks.... So it will be the honda on slicks vs. a bone stock vette oh, I'm sorry it has a K&N filter.... and the vette owner hasn't driven a manual car in 12 years!

Oh, I will get it on video for everyone.... It'll prolly take place in 2 weeks (weather depending) once they open free runs at the local track here!!!

My thinking on this is it will all be up to you and your friend's tuning abilities.

I have watched cars with ridiculous amounts of mods (like your friends car) run so inconsistent at a track, they don't even know what they are going to get.

When your friend got his 11.8, did he also get multiple 11.8's-12.0's? Or were there some 13's in there as tuning issues were being solved.

All I'm saying is that a stock Z06 with a good driver should be 12.0's or less all day long, a tuned car has a lot more trouble duplicating the same time over and over. Just hope it isn't one of those bad flukes during the race.

When we took it to the track the first time, yes it was on a rough tune (by us!) and very small drag radials and no drag bars!!! It now has a complete Hondata S300 system, and all the supporting tuning done at a local tune shop, I guess I confused a lot of people, the first runs at the track were about 2 days after we got it running, so it was a bit rough! It is now tuned, and running very nice now! Jun stated the engine should be capable of 800hp!!! So We are taking it to the dyno again, Saturday, and I will post up the new numbers for you!!

You guys are going to CRUSH the dreams of this middle aged dude with his brand new vette. Seriously, he'll probably kill himself after busting against a multitone Honda with his brand new $60,000 car.
