Cobalt goes 5-0 this weekend

I had a great weekend, destroyed everything that raced me. Got lucky that nothing huge came out and stomped me, but I'm just glad that I had some decent runs, I've had nothing but problems recently and this made me feel much better.

Friday-
SRT-4, mild mods, ran a 13.1@108 on wednesday --- Cobalt wins by 2 cars at 110
Another SS/SC, red, 2.8, 60's, pretty quick car ------ I had a solid car at 110, spun all of second and didn't spray until 3rd
Civic coupe, b18 swap on a 100 shot ---- Cobalt raped, 4+ cars and going away at 100

Saturday -
Supra, first gen, dynoed last week at 270ish --- Cobalt pulled 3 cars with no spray by 110
SRT-4, white, blue stripes, mods unknown --- Cobalt won, 1-1.5 cars by 110. He swore that he would beat me if we ran again, claimed that he "didn't go all the way" in 4th gear. Yeah, right.

I need to take up a collection for a camera, I'll give you guys a couple vids a week of me beating up on cars. As of right now, I don't have vids for you though. I know the second SRT took a vid, but I'm sure it got deleted.

Oh, also pulled a nice STI on Wednesday, from a 20 roll. He jumped out a little as I spun through 1st and second, but once I had traction I evened up the speed, and when I got into third, I pulled from a car back to a car in front by the time I finished 3rd. He was suprised as hell.

Thanks, just wanted to share that with you guys.

Stage 1, 2.8, ported manifold, ZZP DP, GMPP catback, K&N, poly mounts, dual pass, C/A H/E. Basically everything you can add to a stage kit car while still on the factory tune. I'll be returning to my 3" catless DP next week and going to the dyno, hoping to be at 300-310 on the 50 shot.

Like what exactly? Been doing that for two years, sometimes I'll get twice as many runs.

I'll do it, I don't care if I lose. Its not the one that ran an 11.90 recently is it?

Set it up, I should be trapping around 110, so I think I'll give him a good run.

Haven't been caught yet, I'm not worried about it. I always get in trouble close to home or for bullshit, nothing serious.

... not on the track, sorry. Streetracing for me, I need tires/clutch/axles before I take the car back to the track. Tires are urgent, I am now spinning second just on the motor, bottle is out of the question. Once I get a new set, then I need a clutch and DRs, and I'm going to the track for 12's or better.

Wet only. Not going to do a specific tune for nitrous, I don't use it enough.

Na, don't think like that. Spray is a gateway mod, its like the "pot" of the modding addiction. It opens you up to seeing how easy it is to make power, and leaves you wanting more.

I liken it to crack, its addictive, but fun while you use it, and can have disatrous effects if you can't control it. I'd say start on a small shot, 50 or less, you can always re-jet for more later, jets are a couple bucks each. Get a feel for it, see how the car responds to a nice power boost, you won't regret it. Just keep the shot down until you are use to it, make sure your A/F is good, timing isn't too aggressive if you are going to up the shot, usual precautionary measures. You'll suprise the hell outta people with it, and you can't beat the HP/dollar ratio. Do make sure that you have good tires though, if you are spinning second gear now, nitrous isn't going to make it any better. I was spinning into 3rd this weekend on bottle, but I know I need new tires, these are shot.

yea i would never go more than a 50 shot i dont really see it necessary...and im sure with with a reputable tuner, i shouldnt have to worry about anything terrible happening...and yea i still have the stock pirelli pzero rossas on...and they only have liek 13,000 miles so i dont think thatll be a problem either....The only thing is im still under warrenty...so it might be some time before im willing to risk it haha

P zeros are garbage, I had fried the stock set in under 12K miles. You will spin them with mods and bottle. You can run a 50 shot on stage 2 tune, without a problem. Should still tune for it, but it can be done. Warranty is the best time to run a big shot, just make sure your dealer will not tear into the car too heavily before they agree to replace the motor. Helps to know someone there. Run a 100 shot for a while, you will most likely crack a piston or three, but thats why warranty is awesome. Talk to the tech, bring your own pistons and get free labor to install forged pistons.
