Cobalt SS vs Wrx(modded)

Cobalt SS - stock
WRX - turbo back exhaustv( 4" collector--> 3" exhaust piping)

2 races... 40-85mph

both ended in same result, wrx pulled away from me slowly all the way from 40-85mph
prolly 1 1/2 car lengths by 85mph then i shut down b/c i didnt thing id gain any ground after 85mph

very impressed with the wrx and not so impressed with my stock SS its all good though i guess this means i gotta do some serious mods now

I raced a modded subaru (tuned by FAST) and I took him twice from 50mph to 110mph. he was stunned. I pulled harder on top too.

this may be off topic, but my friend who worked at audio visions in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, said that the WRX(non STi) was only puttin out like 2 psi boost, is this true or is he bullshittin me?

a WRX boosting 2(TWO) psi?! Gimme a break! My farts carry more boost than that! stock boost is around 13.5-14 psi. Tuned stock turbos on Wrx's range from 16-19psi. Anything above that the turbo is blowing hot air and out of its efficency range.

Why would you race a WRX stock if you don't have the supercharger? It's obvious what's going to happen. BTW 2 psi is wrong, oh so wrong.

Your driving most likely got you killed, if anything you should have been running right next time him if not passing him.

Keep practicing those shifts and make sure you start out in the correct gear. What gear did you start out in btw?

Like yeah when you start it you will see a blip of boost then to zero or less. you only get boost underload and it will climb with RPM. your friend does not have much knowledge when it comes to cars. did he think there was something wrong with the spedometer too since it read 10mph with the car not moving, but he was actually looking at the tachometer? I not flaming your friend I just found this funny.

he might have said one bar ... as in 1 bar = roughly 14.7 psi

pretty much a WRX isnt that hard to beat while moving. Stg2 on 02-05 WRX will net on average 13.3@102mph. Those are from decent drivers, some as low at 13.1 seconds. The 2.0 doesnt have alot of grunt and with the stock turbo will start dying off. 0-60 stg2 is about 4.5 seconds. Usually the highest ET's you'll see for Subaru is around 100-11x no matter mod level.

What you have to watch is the guys who have a vf22, vf23 or 20g even some 18g's. Those things can be serious top end monsters. I've watched a few roll with z06's at highway speeds, of course down low they will leave snail tracks down the road.....

I'm hoping to see some 12.xx on Stg2 on the 06's but I guess we'll have to wait an see.

It doesnt suprise me a stg 2 WRX walked a stock ss. Its nearly a 1.5 seconds faster in the 1/4 mile with a higher trap. Mod your SS and it wont hang at highway speeds.....

have you driven a 2.0 wrx with a vf22?

there is a small loss in low end torque, but that only matters in first gear, and if the driver doesnt plan on launching

the huge improvement in top end vastly outweighs the extra 300-500 rpm it takes to make boost with a vf22

a stock turbo wrx with the right mods can be pretty potent.

Well I think our is quick not fast. it can be made fast. I also think out of the hole it doesnt hook up. I get alot of wheel spin in all conditions. It is a great handler and would make a great time attack (that certainly has been proven. I dont believe I have seen anyone get under 2.0 seconds in 60ft with this car. I still like it very much.

As far as BS flying around it is not from me. I have no reason to lie. my story is the truth. but I dont really know what was done to the car. it was being used for autocross.

im not saying its everyone, but their def. is alot of BS flying around this site.. either theres people just messing around or they really think their 205 hp cobalt ss is really gonna take an evo or sti. its a joke to even think you can stay close with one, i ran a perfect race againest a slightly modded wrx and he slowly pulled on me, nuff said if someone else was driving my car they woulda lost by the same amount, i shifted perfect and we went straight 40-85pm, i guess im so mad b/c before i had these races i was ll excited that maybe this car was really as fast as everyone said, wrx killer, hangs with srt4's now i just know its nothing special until you mod it, which i plan on doing b/c losing to an AWD wrx is kinda rediculous

You aren't a good driver then. cuz I've beaten 3 WRX's; all of them with a few bolt-ons and I still won. My car is stock down to the air filter.

Im not bashing you but i know when i was knew to stick i wasnt the fastest driver out there. You might have thought you shifted perfectly but you have no experience to prove so. I thought i was quick after a year of driving stick but im still learning to do better and i have been driving stick since i was 16, (19 now). So keep practicing and rematch the wrx.
