Makes this guy look stupid. In the state of FL, (probaly other states, no clue) if the cop that issued the ticket doesn't sghow up to the court date, the icket is autoomatically dismissed, even if the cop is right.

dude if you sign it you aren't admitting guilt...you are just signing that you agree to respond to the citation within a stated amount of time or a warrant will be issued for your arrest and that you understand that you have the right to appeal the citation. not that i am defending the cop because i think he was severely out of line. i would just take your day in court and you will have you're uninterupted time there. have your parents come with you so they can back up your story about the way the cop was acting. good luck man!!!

A lot of cop's intelligence levels are that of a Mullet wearing mustang driver. i have learned that from my experiences. Some enjoy being in a position of power and try to use their Power as an intimidation factor on Young Lads, such as yourself.

I hate the ones like that... there's at LEAST one at every Precinct. MP's are the same way... some of them get off on the fact that they TECHNICALLY have more power than a Military Officer... a lot of butt kissing happens (As in the Officer kissing the corporal's ass!)... it gets to some guys heads... and they get lost in their power. Same with cars... someone switches from a Geo Metro to an LS1 Camaro... and they think it can take anything on the road!

Wow... sorry for that... I'm going to bed.

I felt this same way a few days ago. Even said something similar to this to my neighbor on Saterday. I got pulled over for the first time in three years on sunday. It was a motorcycle cop and he gave me three tickets. One was a fix-it ticket for not having my regestration paper work in my car even though it is on my license plate. A BS one for no seatbelt for taking off my seatbelt after I had parked in a parking spot and turned my car off. And then a speeding ticket for 31mph over the limit. I was speeding, but cop was siting where speed limit changes from 50 mph to 35mph and nailed me. Motorcycle cops are just a$$holes!!!

Get a lawyer, and hope he can get it pled down. You got a reckless driving, exhibition of speed ticket. You will probably lose your license for 6 months and get 6 pts. Plus you get a police record for a class 1 misdemeanor. My lawyer was $1250 dollars for 4 hours in court, and take a driving course and pass it before your court date. Take it very seriously, if you go in there saying the cop is lying you will get the shaft HARD.

LMAO, you don't get a public defender for a case like this. And even if you did request one you have to prove you can't afford on, you don't get one if you are too cheap.

I was at court one time and a kid was in there for like 6 tickets, include posession of marijuana and he requested a public defender and they judge just looked at him and said "you don't get a public defender for tickets, I recommend you get your own lawyer son, you are in a lot of trouble"

PLEASE KEEP US UPDATED.

The cop will show up to this ticket, this isn't a speeding ticket, chances are all the tickets he issued that month have the same court date and he is paid to be there. Don't count on the cop not showing up..

Yeah I'd be there with Reeper and anyone one else that wouldnt sign it. That's bulls#it dude. If he can't PROVE you were "STREET/DRAG RACING" with out a radar or speeding ticket or some kind of citation it will be dismissed and it will just be another number added to the SPECTACULAR win/loss % he has lol

Yeah well I guess I should've read the last page of the thread before posting. Congrats kid, another dirty pig off the streets!

I've been through this before...even when I really WAS streetracing. The cop saw me hauling ass, pulled me over, but didn't get my speed. Went to court and got out because of.....wait for it, wait for it......lack of evidence!!!!

You should be fine, don't waste money on a lawyer.

If you are charged with street racing, wreckless driving , outstanding speeding ticket etc and you have a clean record. You can always ask the DA to defer* it, which means you get a 6 month (like probation) period and if you dont get any traffic violations or moving violations at all it gets wiped off your record. (be sure to bring a copy of your driving record (i think its $10 from the dmv)) All you have to do is pay court costs when you file the deferment*. I got a wreckless 35 miles over speedlimit street racing ticket on christmas night 2005 wiped off my record with it.

Got an estimate for about $400 to have it removed, hole welded in top and bottom, and painted inside and out

Ok..

#1. Use a spell checker. I reccomend google toolbar for posting online. That was painful.

#2. Fight the ticket. Heck you may not need a lawyer but judging from your post lets assume you get a lawyer. It would be the smartest thing for you to do.

#3. Also press suite against the cop for the ticket to pay for the legal fees of getting the lawyer if you can even do that in your part of town.

Well according to you, you and your buddy where speeding. "40 mph in a 35 zone". That is enough probable cause to pull you and your buddy over. Also your buddy hung a left turn as soon as he saw the cop, so in fact to a trained officer that could be seen as an attempt to evade the police. He is lucky that he did not get charged with EVADING.

As for the fact that the 2 of you were side by side speeding together, that does not justify a drag racing contest. However it could be written up as an Exhibition of speed or a speed contest.

As far as the officer telling you to "shut up and sign the ticket" OUT OF LINE. Lying about the whole thing, OUT OF LINE.

Let me ask you this. 1) How old are you? 2) Am I correct in saying that you called your mommy and daddy, who then came down to the scene with you and your friend?

If your answer to #1 is under 18 and yes to #2, then the officer could have released you to the custody of your parents with a ticket for you and your parents to appear in court. And your vehicle would have been impounded for street racing.

If your answer to #1 is over 18 and yes to #2, then there is nothing that mommy and daddy could have done to help you. The officer could have simply arrested you for interfering with a police officer during the scope of his duties. Which by the way is a misdemeanor vs an infarction and could carry a couple of days jail time, plus create a permanent record for you. On top of that your car would have been impounded.

I would consider yourself fortunate, this could have got real ugly in the hands of a better trained and more street smart cop.

I was going to BASH Landonelf for this comment, but I realized that by doing so I would just sink to his level. And the day I decided to be a cop I knew what i was getting into which included COP BASHING. So I'm just gonna let it go with not everybody can do the job of a cop and not all cops are ********. But NO matter what you think about them and how you view them, they will always be there doing their job!

ahah careful with that, not all cops here are easy to spot, if u havent noticed they're now driving chargers, grand caravans (yes a van!!), f150's that look like a work truck, and ive actually seen an undercover hummer.... so this is just a heads up there getting really sneaky..
