Corvette GS vs. just a cobalt

so today i had only my second race with a stranger! i usually dont race unless there are absolutely no cars on the road and especially no cops but today there were perfect conditions. so im driving down highway 50 from titusville if anyone knows where that is when i see a c6 off in the distance so i speed up a little to see what it was and i noticed the fins on the side and immediately knew it was a grand sport. ive always wanted to race a c6 since i got the ss/tc so i dropped it down to third, caught up and let off in front of him so he could hear me sneeze. then i coasted out a little in front of him and see him coming fast behind me and he passes me then brakes so we are side by side. well i dropped back to third (at this point were doing about 70) and i hear him drop down as well so i punch it and he immediately jumps on me a car or two. once i get to full boost, i creep back up on him and pass him as i nls into fourth around 120 or so (first nls ever by the way). then i pulled maybe three cars on him and by 145, here he comes creeping back up on me. when he was about a car behind i let off and he blew by me. looked down at my speedo and it was buried at 160! we both slowed back down to the speed limit and gave eachother thumbs up and he turned off at the next exit. overall really fun race and really cool guy, it doesnt seem like many corvettes around here ever race. well mods were in the sig and i was having trouble with my mbc but got it working again thankfully as i left back to orlando

Good kill. Shows how much extra power that GT28 gives you up top. You would've had a bus length, maybe more on him from a 40 roll.

I ran a C6 GS Vette when I had my LNF and pulled out on him about a car 40-115ish and then he'd come around me as my stock turbo would run out of breathe and his aerodynamics and gearing took over.

Good stuff. It helps that the vette is geared to go like 180. The balt is 20mph slower. He is gonna catch you either way on a long enough run haha. But midrange speed you seemed to do very well. Makes me excited for my BNR stage 2 turbo swap and E85 at the end of the year.

Nice! My old man has a 2010 C6 GS they are pretty quick, more of a handling upgrade than an dragster as its the same old LS3 as the base model but still, with 430hp they move good.

I wish my old man would let me give his the HP Tuner treatment....but no go

Basically a base model LS3 Vette with all the Z06 goodies minus the LS7.

They look really good. If you had time to break boost he wouldn't of got the jump. Bet he wasn't expecting that.

Hit the right one at the right time and you only need 1.

Ugh, Just looked it up now. It looks like a riced out Corvette. Those "Gills" are awful and the wheels leave a lot to be desired too. I'll take the base model or the real Z06 thanks!

Hardly, the Grand Sport name plate has been around for a long time.

Aside from having all the Z06 suspension and brake goodies, it also has the wider front and rear fenders, Z06 front bumper and rear bumper.

The front fender slits look much cleaner than the ZR1 versions IMO.

The Grand Sport is more or less a "Track Package". The LS3's are fitted with a dry sump oil pump similar to the LS7 engine which has them standard. This way no concern about oil starvation flying around the road course.

Its a pretty serious car, to call it a "riced out" corvette is a bit ignorant.

Good kill man!!! I'm gonna look up that grand sport, sounds like chevy made a car that looks fast. It's pretty sad when a vette gets taken down by a turbo 4 banger

It traps 115 stock on the street tires that come on it. I don't think that is just "looking" fast sorry. It is a pretty nice car , I have driven both a Z06 and the new 2010 GS and both are very nice. The GS can hold its own on the back roads following my other buddies z06 ( one has the z06 one has a GS).

Isn't to hard for a four banger with enough money / power to take down a "stock" vette lol.

There are some all-motor 4 bangers that would make that vette, buddies cobalt and most peoples full out drag cars look silly....

...whats your point?

Anything can be fast.

I don't know where your from but here in Mississippi there is very few "full out drag cars" that any all motor 4 banger will make look silly :P. But like I said I live in redneck ville hell here lolol.

Oh I don't doubt that , but it isn't killing a full out drag car here. I'm talking mid to low 8's not 9's. 9's are what street-able v8's can do here. I am talking about non street-able drag cars, that is to me a "full out drag car".

Also I have done some research to check and see what the current is , since I followed it a few years ago. What is the non PROSTREET *I'm not talking about a tubular chassis car here* all motor k20 at? I found 9.25 @ 148, anyone else got a link to something faster? My curiosity is peaked now lol.
