Remember anything can be fast with the right parts and money! Now stock for stock... there is no chance they are slow stock!

it'd take alot to make a XRS as fast as a SS/SC.

Some can be made quick with a 9K redline to boot.

I believe the older XRS's had 170hp.....and the new XRS's only have 158hp....both are matched with 6-speed transmissions....but both would be murdered by an SS/SC stock.

They're much more well matched with a 2.4SS/Sport.

the older ones with a good driver stock mid 15s- i/h/e can get it to mid 14s same engine as the celice gt-s in a slightly lighter platform.
the new ones are dung. i know a guy that runs at my track with one 03-04 i think, IHE 14.5@ 97 from a dig it might be a close race with a stock ss/sc if racing the 1320, if your gonna do roll or a dig to top speed the the ss/sc will win everytime..

stock for stock or modded for modded the SS will murder the xrs

They run what toyota calls VVTi. It's like VTEC's weaker, slightly challenged cousin who is missing a leg. Really I wouldn't worry about an XRS unless it has some forced induction and a decent amount of internal work.

A tune and some DR's and I guarantee you a Corolla XRS can run low 14's.

I know many Celica GTS' that have ran 14's stock, and low 14's with just a tune and DR's, and some with just bolt ons and a tune on stock tires have ran low 14's. I knew a guy with a few bolt ons, tune and DR's and was running 13's. It's a 2500lb car, very light.

I dont believe Toyota's VVTL-i is weaker than Honda's Vtec, I believe it to be slightly stronger. Just sucks you have to worry about breaking a lift bolt, or change them out for new ones right when you get the car.

How do you figure a 170 HP and a 127 ft lbs of torque car can run low 14's with just a tune and DRs? I drove plenty of XRS while at toyota and they barely made it up hills lol. Also VVT-i isn't nearly on the same level of VTEC. Toyota hasnt made anything that can compare to the B18C5 which is an old motor by now, let alone the newer K series.

Pro-tip: You don't mash the gas in first.

i didnt say you do. i said if you think about doing so... so you have to babby the throtle in first and some of 2nd. and while your are working the throttle the your not at full boost full power, so it imporves the other cars chance of a win

introduce your cousin to a site called youtube... tell him to search, the xrs has no shot, stock for sotck, or modded vs stock, unless he put alot of money in

IMO theres just better 4 cylinder powerplants out there. VVT-i's produce decent power but they're not by any means the standard in the field.

You keep saying VVT-i, which isnt even what the Corolla XRS or Celica GTS has, they have VVTL-i, you notice the "L" in there, it does mean something.
