So a buddy of mine just bought a used late 90's Eclipse. He said it is the AWD turbo model and it is stock except for a cai.
Aren't those called GSX-T's or something like that?

Anyway, he's sayin he's gonna own my stock SS/SC.

Does anyone know what these are capable of?
I've never had a run in with one and I was just curious.

you will take him, i have a friend same car 98 awd turbo cai, had motor problems kinda nothing serious just wasn't new if you get what i am saying, well anyways i ran him down with my high 13 auto V6 firebird with weight in the car like a mo fo, i have test driven a ss s/c and those are fast period.

Dont worry about it to much. The GSX arent that great from a roll. As long as he is on the stock 14b turbo you will be fine.

 

If he knows what hes doing he'll walk you out of the hole, but you will real him back in by 1000 feet. At the 1320 your going to trip the win light.

 

well if he keeps it mostly stock youll be fine but be warned dsm's have a lottt of potential... my buddy kris has his in the 11s and uts a bitch from a roll i pul about 2nd gear then he passes me like i am standing still.... but with all dsm's the engine will blow lolol

 

If it is tuned right then it wont be an issue. It is the trannys that are the problem on them. Yeah big turbo, with a good tune on a DSM = Ownage of almost anyone.

Yes and supporting mods too. The good thing is that mods are really cheap to do.

If it takes a 20g for a DSM to take a stock balt then there is something mental with the driver and he shouldn't have a license to start with.

Stock vs. stock...you will win but not by much.
MBC for $10 and airbox mod and he'll own you. Simple as that.

you are definitly gonna need some serious driver mod to take it from a dig. from a roll however, you will win, the cobalt is just faster.

 

hes car would die at the starting line. the eclipse turbo was the car to have when i went to highschool and they where always breaking down.

 

they al break down because they are DSM's. But they are fast, and can be very fast.

Like DSMissed said. now you'll take him. but he can turn the boost up for like 19.99 and he will be out of your league

To run 11's in a awd dsm you need the following:
Evo 3 16 G
Front mount intercooler
550 cc/min fuel injectors
SAFC
Airbox mod
Open dump wastegate
3" Thermal R&D turbo back exhaust

DSM's take mods very well, i have a few friends with full exhaust and boost controls running high 13s all day.
