So I have a friend that owns a black 30th or 35th (i dont know) 350z he has an intake and full exhaust on it, we are all cruising around and we get on the highway out of town, hes about a car and a half ahead of me when he heard me downshift into 2nd and he droped one and got on it.

So we started at 80kmph he was a car and a half ahead of me, we were dead even through 2nd and the bottom of 3rd, but when we got to the top of third i started to pull on him and he shut down just as i started to pull. so wehen we ended i was less than a car behind my front bumper was inline whith his rear bumper.

I wish he had started equal to me but hey at least i finnaly got to see what my new car can do.

Should have beat him by more then that, I have taken a 350z G35 with my stock balt..

 

keep in mind we started at 80kmph, it would have been better if it were 50-60kmph

50mph in a cobalt is a horrible spot in the powerband to race. between 30-40mph is the perfect spot in second for us to launch. 50mph is a third gear launch and is boggy at the initial punch. If you were to launch at 50mph in second you would be almost at redline and it would be pointless.

 

well 40 would have been better thats what i wanted to do

 

umm, do you drive a cobalt? Cause anyone that does knows that 2nd gear goes to about 73mph...at least for us non-stock guys. if you are stock...well, thats your own problem.

 

yea but i would go for 40mph, Thats the best roll point for our cars imo.

or when you get a tune you could get the rev limitor up to about 71 or 7200 and it would allow you to go alittle faster in all gears

thats funny my car is very modded(276whp) and has been tuned and has a 7400 rev limiter that i would never touch still shift at 7100, but i still would never race starting that high. To me that's not a race of cars, starting from a slow like 10-20mph roll or dead stop is a race. If you can't launch the cobalt right then you can't race. Race the 350z from a dig and let's see how good your driving skills are, i bet you will get spanked!

 

Nissan needs to scrap the 350Z's and make the 450Z

 

if you race a 03-06 you should win. but 07-08 is a different story.

 

if you're starting from 50 in third, there's something wrong there 50 is a DAMN good starting place for the cobalt, puts it way into the powerband in 2nd. 30 is out of the powerband. either there's something wrong here, or your speedo is WAY off.

 

like honestly who the **** starts a race at 50mph?? Are all you that ******* horrible at launching our car?? I have never raced starting that high and never would.
