ok so me and my cousin recently graduated from bartending school, and decided we want a job in the hamptons ......so at like 4pm sat (29th) we get on the road and head east down sunrise hwy...after about an hr of driving im on this strip of road, 2 lanes and huge open fields on either side...i didnt think anything about it since i wasnt in the mood to get a ticket (come to think of it, i dont think im ever in that kind of a mood) so im driving on cruise control at like 80, and out of nowhere comes this silver Ford F-150 SVT Lightning. He flies past me and slows down to about 90. i play cat and mouse, and catch up to him. we line up and no one makes the 3-2-1 count, and all of a suddent i hear this MONSTER ROAR!!! WOW ive never heard such a loud sound yelling straight into my ear, since he was in my left lane and i opened my window. so i punch it and hes haulin ass... we shut down at like 110 and line up again but this time at 60, i have my preffered speeds for each gear, and ide rather 70 in 3rd that way im at least in the begining of the powerband (60mph is 3K rpm...powerband only starts at 4K)...his girl in the passenger seat cracks the window open just enough to fit her hand out(not sure exactly why she did that), puts her fingers up, 3-2-1 BAM....we both punch it and holy **** that thing was soo loud that i was considering taking my hand off of the steering wheel to close my window....we just kept going 60-70-80-90-100-110-120-130 not thats already the fastest ive ever gone in the cobalt so at about 134 ish not sure exactly i was kind of paying more attention to the race...i bounce off of the rev limiter...shift to 5th and finally shut down at about 138....at that point he had a good 2 to 3 cars on me...DAMNNN those things are fast....we raced another couple of times from diff speeds to like 120....he one every time, and im not too bad of a driver so i wouldnt say it was my fault other than the hitting the limiter which wouldnt have changed the outcome by more than a half a car if that... then he went in front of me by about one car length and i was sick of him passing me so i was like **** this so i punch it and right when i punch it, again i hear his engine rumbling.....i slowly pass him, and continue to pass him and he got really mad and couldnt catch up to me, until i shut down and eventually when we slowed down he burnt out and cut me off...

so basically that thing was fast as ****, not sure what would have happened if i was in the powerband on the other races, but i would think he would probably still win just not by as much....
Just in case you guys were wondering, the SVT lighting was in the guiness book of world records for fastest production truck!! the SRT-10 RAM is faster to 60 and maybe even in the 1/4 mile...but the SVT has a higher top speed and overall is faster than the SRT-10 RAM

sorry about the long write up, but i hope you enjoy it......btw i also raced an 06 sti b4 that and got walked too but he was a jerk and didnt wanna play by the sound of the horn so it wasnt a clean race

BTW I ENDED UP GETTING A TICKET ON THE WAY HOME, I WAS GOING LIKE 70 AND THE COP SAID HE DIDNT CATCH ME ON THE RADAR BUT WROTE ME UP FOR 79 IN A 55....WAT AN ASS...I DEF WASNT GOING 79...wtvr another ticket to fight

 

The SRT ram sticker said something like 4 city and 10 hwy MPG lol. I saw it at the auto show. Lightling is pretty quick, but I had a different experience.

I went to the track and raced one. When we took off he pulled like 3 cars on me from the get go and probably another car while we where rolling. I eventually evened off where he wasnt pulling any more, and then started to creep on him just slightly. he seemed to start getting slower as they sped up.


He ran a 13.6 and I ran a 14.2.

 

Those things are FAST, especially for such a big-ass truck. Superchargers make cars do funny things.

it was def an 04 or later bc it had the exhaust coming out of the side...he might have had work done to it too, im not sure....he had some lights around it so u nvr know

they are fast as hell... if u had stage 2 and ur story is true... u night have been even.

lol i have an 01 lightning and its fast as ****. the down fall is that i get 12 mpg!!! im looking into getting a ss/sc for mpg... pluss its an 01 500 car note...

1999 Ford F-150 Lightning 5.8 14.3
2001 Ford F-150 Lightning 5.2 13.9

 

I really think you guys need to race a lighting from a roll, Lets see it a automatic truck going from a roll, two weak points, i beat my friends moded lighting 3times from a roll a while back before he got his new blower, then he had tune, exhaust. cai pulley, it was close but i still won. The lighting is great from a dig, the top end not so great.

 

what kills them is there final gears slap some 4.10:1 gears in that mother with the mods listed and that truck would fly from a roll a dig either one

they are not so sick when u press the gas tank and it goes to E! lol half my check goes to gas. my truck is 95% stock and ive be everything on the hwy except for a zo6 and some fast ass TA
