Ford Tbird
I was getting on the interstate a few ago and one of these with the v8 (he had duals stock) in it was infront of me. He gunned it so I did too. I passed him after the road straightened out and he waved me on trying to be a smart ass. I just drove by and caught up to traffic eventually. Then I see his headlights coming up fast so I drop it to 3rd and the poor guy couldn't ever catch up to me. He tried to pass me on a curve and I'm glad he didn't because im sure he would have lost control.
I looked these things up and I am surprised he didnt kill me. The one I looked up was RWD 280 hp 3.9L V8. Old guys and their rich cars I'm sure he thought he was going to own me haha

that thing is a ziggy piggy. they run like low 15's stock cause they are SOOOOO heavy. good kill. i hate cocky old guys that think their cars are god. when my dad and i were test driving an e63 some guy in an early 90's vette tried to race us and he was smiling like we were afraid...

They put 230-240whp stock. 280 crank. Not the most overrated motor but i've never seen someone actually make the last body style t-bird a fast car. All the new T-birds I've seen people got the "baby blue" color. Looks like a smurf on wheels.

We are talking about one of these?:
I have driven a couple when I used to be at a Ford dealership. They are ok for an old guy. But are slow, heavy, and crappy looking.

yeah redwing we are talking about those. and Sneaky they dont have a 4.2, they actually have a 3.9!!! I know its smaller than the new mustangs V6. They did some of them come with a supercharger though.
#13
well considering the most recent s4 uses a 4.2 and makes almost 350hp, i'd like to say one thing...displacement doesn't mean **** anymore. look at ******* honda. 210hp from an n/a 2 liter...WTF
#15
actually those numbers are fairly impressive for a 3.9l... 280hp 286 ft lbs...n/a too. not bad really considering most 300hp v8's are in the mid 4's+ as far as dispalcement...that thing is a piggy again tho.

depends on the stroke. high hp small displacement tipically means less torque because to make big hp numbers for a small motor you can't have a real long stroke as it is weaker in the high rpm's that way and higher rpms=more hp typically. there are alot of factors that effect torque, just like everything else.
my point was technology is nowhere near equal anyomre in the car industry and bigger motor doesn't necessarily mean better anymore.

The 3.9 is actually a Jaguar powerplant... pretty good engine...
The whole T-bird is really just a reskinned Jag... but yeah, heavy, as most drop-tops are. All that power top hardware.

While that may be true, we just have to keep in mind that engines like the Chevy small block are basically the same design since the 50's when they came out with only small changes for strength and fuel injection (Although ford seems to be comming out with new designs every decade, they should have kept the windsor). If technology that is used on these honda engines was incorporated into a V8, then the power would be monstrous.
