I got off work last night around 845pm in Newark, DE. My dad usually likes to go out to BWW on Tuesday nights so I decided to leave work and go see if I can get a free dinner. he usually shoots for a 9:15 to 9:30pm wing time so I made a mad rush home (Bel air, MD)... yeah yeah, shouldnt speed.

Anyways as I get to the Conowingo Dam on I-95 traveling at a decent pace. I passed a dark forest green cavalier with black spray painted wheels, his windows were down and he had one of those exhaust tips with the neons but they were not on. (basically a MASSive exhaust tip). I went around him at my decent pace and got back in the left lane. He guns it immediately and gets right on my bumper. I switch lanes maintaining my speed. he stays behind me on my bumper. After we crossed the bridge and we were making that slight 20 degree incline into Harford county I kept it in 5th and let him understand that he was retarded, I gave it the gas.

I pulled away easily in 5th gear uphill. slowed back down to my quick pace home, lol, and the dumb **** catches up and gets back on my bumper!!! like he must have been inches from me. then he he gets off at his exit maybe 200 yards later...

I dont get it???

 

I had that happen a lot when I had my 06 ss & 08 Cobalt Sport, I just let them tear out so they could think boy I sure smoked that Cobalt

Just for reference my Cobra is louder part throttle 2500-3k RPM's then it is through the rest of the powerband at WOT.

 

a cavi compared to a cobra is apples to oranges lol

that and i'm sure the OP can tell the difference between a small shot up to 3k and winding the car out in an attempt to play with him...

Don't know why he stayed on your bumper, if the cops were out he would of stopped both of y'all.

When someone passes me at a good clip I'll follow the required car lengths behind them. This gives me enough time to slow down when the cop is found....

 

I love going up hills letting the turbo do the work, most econboxes need a double downshift. Steep hills and 2nd gear WOT, is just a smokeshow

 

Whats wrong with that? At a decent freeway speed he should have had more than enough oil pressure to do that. Or does you concern lie somewhere else? I mean if he was rocking WOT at 1k in 5th then I would agree completely with you.

 

yeah, I was going 80mph when I buzzed past mister cavalier, he got on my bumper. It was no mistake that he wanted to play. I didnt want to though, I was already going 80. So once the road was alittle clear, I went WOT in 5th and "jogged" him. (faster than walking him.) Then I slowed back to 80 and he caught up and hung off my bumper.... He must have thought drafting me at 80mph was saving him gas?

 

lulz at people freaking about 5th gear... i hope you guys never put a sticky tire on your car and try to launch it!

 

I was always told it's very hard on the clutch.

And of course a sticky tire and launches are harder on the clutch.

 

It is but it's not that serious. The general way to test if your clutch is slipping is to go WOT in 5th around 55-60mph. So yea, its tough on the clutch, but unless you do it all the time its no big deal

 

I had a base model cobalt sedan fly by me the other day, i would have shown him what was really up but I had to get home so i proceeded to turn off.

 

I get that **** ALL the time. The cars that can slaughter me are usually the nice ones and stay a couple cars back... Its all the pos riced up cars with sawed shocks, angled fart cans etc that creep up on the bumper. I had a purple cavi with wing and 5" tip complete with broken BMW logo on the back cut me off at a light. When it turned green he hit it, showering my sc with stones as the intersection was under construction.. (I had my sc at the time). That didnt end so well for the little ricer..

 

He should always have enough oil pressure no matter what gear or speed hes at...

 

Be glad you get anyone to **** with you. Outside of being at a cruise I've had 1 random guy try messing with me, that's it. It's nice at first but then you kind of miss all the ricers trying to race you.

 

Yeah I know I was just responding to the previous post... It seems that people think that when you go WOT in 5th a tear will occur in the space, time continuum and destroy the universe or something.
