Got SMOKED by a STS Turbo Silverado!

Yep...destroyed! i cought a red light next to red silverado, look nice clean! i had my window down i see him roll his down. He said nice car, that he liked the cobalts i said thx! and that my bro has a silverado ss, so iam a fan of them..He said if i want to run'em i said sure! light turned green. I thought i got a pretty good launch i was like sweet...but next to me i hear that sound of a turbo spooling iam thinking..."hooollly sh*!@" and he is gone! probably had atleast 10 cars on me by about 80ish. We got the next light together he said he has a 5.3L with some LQ9 heads and some cam, and most importantly the sts turbo! cool guy gave me a thumbs up and waved. Maaaaan! i need to mod my car bad! sweet death tho

i drove a GTO with one and didn't notice any lag. The only thing I didn't like about it on the GTO was the fact the intake piping running back to the intake was so low you could tell it had scraped the ground.

there is very little lag in most of the sts systems actually...most turbo setups are setup with the potential of running high boost numbers (many close to 20psi while still being efficient) even though most customers will only run 10-12psi at the most with an aftermarket setup. The sts systems use pretty small turbos that max out efficiency wise around 12-13 psi, so they can spool pretty damn fast. It will lag quite a bit more than if a typical turbo system used the same turbo, but most of the sts systems use much smaller, faster spooling turbos than a comparable turbo kit. Biggest problems with the systems is like the person above me said, the piping is very low on many setups, on low cars there is the issue of the filter being splashed, if you get rearended say goodbye to your turbo, and the oil setup is just retarded.

Nice, LQ9 heads on an LM7 will drop compression some so he was probably able to up the boost a little over the stock amount supplied with the kit and tune. I had ordered an STS kit a week after I bought my truck but ran into financial problems.
