As the title goes, it was not a even a competiton. Gotta post up the bruises as well right not only the trophies...lol...well here it goes. First race ever in this car
His car looked very stock, until...well until he passed me, that thing was loooooooooooooud. Manual of course, I heard his shift points well from my car with my windows up. Had some kinda aftermarket exhaust well hidden, prolly intake as well. Cuz it was loud. Anyways I gave up after he had 2 cars on me and pulling away.
I know i have only had this car for a weak, but i have put almost 1200km on it, cuz i drive waay too much. And in couple of months im going away, which means the car will be collecting dust in my garage. Prolly gonna stow her away after the first oil change.
But yeah word to those considering a 2.4, GET THE MANUAL. The Automagic is slow..lol

mazda 3 r slow the prelude will kill them and the ss/na....i use to have a prelude and they r really quick....my buddie has one to and he was riding my ASS 2day and i was flooring it and then led off at 60 somethinkg
it most definetly was not. My cousing has a mazdaspeed 3, this one was prolly modded mazda 3 GT.
visual and audible mods, led me to the conclusion that he definetly had an intake and exhaust mod, also he was 5spd.
Mine is an automagic 2.4 n/a, although i keep feeding it 91 octane, i think i need a few mods and tune

my brother has a mazda 3, he doesn't even try bother comparing his car to mine. I wish a mazda 3 would try to race me i'd love to break his little heart, lol. I'm a bastard i know i know!
He didn't say at what speed he let off. Maybe it was only 60 mph, and by then the Mazda already had 2 cars on him. He says it wasn't a MS3, but there isn't much difference, unless he knows the guy. Don't the regular 3s only have like 150 crank hp/tq? I thought the 2.4 SS had 170 hp / 160 tq. I don't know much about either car though, so it's possible that one or the other may be underrated.
2.2 cobalt ls: 145 hp 155 lb-ft torque.
2.3 mazda 3: 156 hp 150 lb-ft torque.
stock for stock, that is a drivers race. but dont be ashamed u lost cuz no doubt about it, the mazda u ran into, HAD to have been heavily modded to even keep up with the ss/na

Ok the 2.4 SS is rated at 173 hp at the crank. With my mods I have got to be pushing 200 hp at the crank. I raced a Mazda 3 last month and beat it by 4 and a half cars when I hit 95mph! It was stock of course, but still those cars are weaksauce foesure! The car you raced must have been heavily modded, and I have an auto too and I still smashed one.

automatics r crappy. real men,(and women) drive manual. personally i dont like that much drivetrain loss due to those CRAPPY ass clutches in automatics. clutchpacks can goto hell haha. autos r MAYBE for cadillacs for old ppl who cant move much. otherwise i think ALL cars should be manuals. =D crap why spend the extra 1500$ for a auto when manuals cheaper anywayz

I think your outlook is a little narrow minded and really doesn't make a hell of a lot of sense, haha. Based on your style of typing, I would say your 18yrs old at most, you'll grow up soon and realize there is more to life than manual transmissions

Manuals don't make more HP than Automatics, haha. The gear ratios being shorter in the 5sp and the painfully slow shift of the automatics is what makes the difference.
Because daily driving in a busy City is a nightmare with a Manual transmission.

Most nowaday get better MPG. The are more convinent in heavy traffic. Its easier to multitask if you do business from your car IE cell phone etc. You can drive a automatic without the use of BOTH hands and BOTH legs, hurt one leg or one arm and driving an manual can be near impossible.
And to top if off a modded automatic transmission is the best way to go in many competitive sports. Such has 4x4 rock climbing. Also a modded automatic transmission (valve body, shift kit, torque converter, etc) will out shift even the best manual driver with shifting speeds that are measured in milliseconds. Add launching controls and it will constantly out launch the best manual driver too. Plus a properly setup automatic is generally stronger then a manual transmission.
You should really broaden your outlook on automatics. Then try to educate yourself.
Do you think these glorified automatics (ie tiptronic, paddle shifting, dsg) are dumb? Because they are superior to manual transmission in everyway. Automatic CVT transmission such as the one found in the new Altima dont even shift its one really really long gear from 0-120+ MPH that keep the car at its peak power, try to race that.
I own a 5 speed w/ PPG straight cut 1-2 helical cut 3-4 stock 5th w/ synchrod shifting. IE I'm a manual fan. But understand the benefits of an automatic...
