GTI APR stage 3 vs Cobalt SS/TC E47
Also out on my cruise tonight i ran into a GTI. It was very clean and debadged. He got next to me at the light and much to my dismal failure of having 36+ psi in the tires for the twisties i got murdered out of the hole. Didn't help that i was also a little heavy with the right foot lmao!
Anyways, as you can see in the video he absolutely KILLS me off the line. My buddy sucks at video work but i start to close the gap just as we brake for the light ahead. I did not NLS as traffic wasn't happening already but oh well.
Result: Win for him!
We turned off the main road and found a clear spot to go but the road was absolutely crap, bumps, drops, potholes. Well after pacing each other for quite some time i honked it off when it seemed the road was better. Honked it off on 3 from 35 in 2nd and until the top of 3rd he was sitting at my door. I didn't pull an inch and he sat there at my door. I got more wheel spin but held him off this time.
Result: Tie.
We got to the light and apparently its a APR stage 3. Google was used a lot tonight as i didnt know anything about it. Car is full bolt on plus the APR kit, which is pretty extensive. I think the results were about right as when i had traction it was fairly close and i was able to make some ground back up on him. Either way it was by FAR the fastest GTI i have ever had the pleasure to run.
Only have video of him kicking my ass sadly as my buddy was too busy gawking to remain on film duty. We really need to have a talk with him. My brother is pretty pro behind the camera, but my buddy needs some work.
Don't mind losing to a cool guy with a damn nice GTI, now i just need my new turbo already. Oh and to reduce this god damn tire pressure.
Anyways, here is me getting killed:

Again, nice runs. You seem to find a lot of cool cars to run out there in that certain part of Mexico You've already stated it, but I have to say it also: Better camera man ftw

Hahaha, yeah we got to the whataburger to grab a bite afterwards and i was like, "where is the 2nd run between me and the GTI"
Him: "Uhhh... i was just watching"
Me: /facepalm
Oh and apparently these GTIs get in excess of 400hp, good thing they weigh a lot lol.

Sorta off topic (nice run btw) but I hear that loud whistle on WOT just like you have but didn't start hearing it until I put the K&N SRI on. Did you notice the same thing? I'm trying to narrow it down.
How do you think you would've done from a dig? You should see about getting HPTuned. You might be a little "conservative".
Thanks for posting.

I would have been better from a dig if I was running my normal tire pressure up front. It was from like 10 mph and I was a little over zealous.
As for the sound, I believe its just what the intake sounds like. I've put it on 4 cobalts for my friends and brother and they all do it. It hasn't concerned me at all. I think its just the tiny turbo + intake making the noise.

yeah i know the one he raced is newer so its the 2.0 tsi motor
but i'm not sure if he got his stuff from apr but he has the same thing, that the typical "stage 3 car" would have, i make fun of him b/c i'm like you had to get all those mods and spend all that money just to still get rolled out on lol

It's half the reason i chased him down for another shot lol. Sadly the road he turned on was a torque steer nightmare because of the ruts/potholes/dips etc, car was tracking all over the place.
Out on the highway or me on like 30-31psi in the tires and i have no doubt this wouldn't have been like the video shows. However, i am man enough to post my failures as well as my successes. My right foot was way to heavy for the tires last night.

It's hit and miss on getting runs. I got kind of lucky and am usually riding around with the Windows down and just give the other car a nod and a downshift. Usually doesn't take much more.
