lol.

The factors that determine top speed:

- Drag Coefficient
- Horsepower
- Gearing
- Rolling Resistance
- Tire ratings
- Wind Speed/Direction
- Do ya got enough gas to get there?

lol

mostly gearing.....

a 4.10 v8 will max out at very low speeds by comparison ( aka 120 mph and less on some! )

Whatever, I aint here to argue, I just know what I've seen and what I've been told. A stock LS2 GTO tops out in the low 160 range I believe, and from what I've seen a stock and mild bolt on M3 does about the same. And if you are so stupid to do 180+ on the streets, because I know it aint in the 1/4 mile, than you're looking for something bad to happen to you.

Then you've NEVER seen one re-flashed to get rid of the top speed govenor. Also please see the post where I responded to where I did my 180mph+ run. Also please note I only got that fast ONCE as I see no reason to press my luck. But don't forget my car was built to do it from the factory. Thats why it was a $60,000 car brand new.

Hell, my speedo tops out at 180 mph. Max speed stock is ~161 mph. Its not governed, and I know with enough power I can make 180 mph. Should I? Probly not, but it is possible.

I wont consider it until some coilover springs go in there.

You're right, I'm not gonna argue about one being reflashed, I'm talking straight from the factory, electronically limited. No need to see the post, I just know doing 180+ on the streets is stupid and childish. So you're saying you paid $60,000 so you can do 180+? I just dont see the need in that, and if you say no and say you spent that much so you can run low 13's stock and 12's with a couple mods, than I'm gonna say you spent about 3x what was needed, well 6x if you look into a nice used car. Maybe you didnt spend the money to go fast and you just wanted an M3, and more power to you, because it is one hell of a nice car.

A non speed limited M6 GTO that is otherwise stock will stop moving just above 170mph and max out fifth gear right around there. It will not pull in sixth with the exception of one that might be S/C'd but then you run the risk of transmission failure with that kind of load in such a high gear.

But like I said in a thread a while back the GTO's suspension will be trying to kill you above 160mph.

My C6 is the first car I have ever owned that 150+ even feels comfortable in. And there is alot more to top speed than just having the power to do it.

LOLZ. It does get kind of scary at higher speeds. In dash icebox starts shaking, shifter knob falls off, the duck tape holding the clutch in place starts to peel....

Seriously though, the turbo pulls hardest in the top RPMS. Its a dangerous tease. The faster ur going, the more th turbo pulls. Makes u want to do 140+ just to get the most excitement out of the turbo....

hehe, thus the coil overs to lower my high ass car, and some stiffer engine mounts. I really want mopar to release more stage kits. Stage 3 is speculated at 450 hp. This is all hearsay and probly false, but man that would be sweet. 180 mph no prob.

Because you wouldn't want to hear the truth now would you.

Truth is the 2005 C6 auto is only a four speed and in certain conditions a modded GTO would beat it. Could it have been beat up top like that by SlowSho maybe but most likely not.

I know what he is getting at but think about it and keep this in mind a stock LS1 F-Body is a drivers race for the LS2 GTO's.

I tangled with two local LS1's that both had right around 400whp one using a MS4 cam and the other using a different cam and nitrous. In a 10mph to 150mph race neither put more than a car on me. Now tell me how a 380whp 3700lbs GTO runs 11.9 and puts 4-5 cars on even a A4 C6.

o cmon, my ss/tc is fine at those speeds, it's fun at those speeds I've been to 140MPH(230KM/H) a few times, the ss/tc finds it way to that speed VERY quickly, very much to my surprise the 2-3 times i've done it.
