one day you'll look back at how stupid you were when you were younger hack. it's a part of growing up. that being said, you're going to do what you're going to do. but when you publicly post your business for everyone to see, you have to take the good comments with the bad. but you also have to understand that you ARE putting others at risk whether you're driving fast by yourself, or racing. god forbid a tire blows out, or an animal runs into the road, or the person next to you ***** up and tags your car. now both your cars are fucked, and you're putting the people that are watching the race at risk too. i can guarantee you that 99% of the speeding/reckless driving/racing (yes, they're all pretty much the same thing so they're getting lumped together.) accidents happened from people that thought it wouldn't happen, and also thought they were doing it in a way that was "safe". it's something that comes to most people when they get a little older.

 

I don't have a problem with this thread, it's everyone else that can't mind their own business.

At this meet was anyone drinking? Because at a lot of the car meets I go to, quite a few people have a few drinks, some more then others.. And I see those idiots get into their cars and drive. That sounds more stupid to me then purging or street racing.. Just curious.

where did the post about skeletons in the closet go, did the guy post then delete it? anyways, you're right. i have a TON of skeletons in my closet, most likely more than anyone else on the site. been to jail a few times(not talking for a weekend of a few days either) and i understand how certain decisions affect not only yourself, but others that may somehow get involved, even if you didn't intend them too. that's why i make it such a big point to say the things i do in these types of threads. i've been through it all, i know what it's like, i know what happens. and you're right, i totalled a car when i was drunk, with my brother home on leave from the army. and it was an eye opener. never drink when i'm driving anymore, and if i do, i may have a beer with dinner and that's it. haven't driven drunk or even sligthly buzzed since i totalled my cavy a few years back.

and with other things too, if you have ever seen some of my posts you know what i've been through. this is why i try to tell people the things i do. not because i like to talk down to people, or because i think i'm better than anyone, but because i've been through it and have seen firsthand the damage certain things can do. that's why i say the things i do in these kinds of threads. so next time you talk about skeletons in your closet, better have something to back it up.

well i didnt want to get into the alcohol versus racing debate but here is an insiders view...working in the courthouse the bulk of our stuff was DUI cases...now some people are able to operate a vehicle at a .4xx BAC while some people with a .08 cant stand up anymore...where as cutting the wheel abruptly at 80mph is going to effect every car and person the exact same way

Correct. The point I'm getting at:

What difference does it make whether one is going full throttle with another car, than going full throttle by themselves? None, absolutely no difference unless one of the two aforementioned cars is driving in the wrong lane of traffic, etc.

I'm sure EVERYONE goes full throttle in their car at LEAST a few times a month for some reason or another.

Now in HALF of my races I dont go over 80mph, The other half I dont go over 100mph, and I RARELY EVER go over 100mph.

So I don't see why I get ragged on for going Wide open with another car, when people on this site go wide open all the time.

Yea, I cut that post out to save the flack back. People wouldn't have interpreted properly. But yea, I don't encourage street racing, but I do it. I live miles away from the 4th most heavily cruised highway in the U.S. and I've gotten myself into some very kick ass street races. Also have driven drunk. But by no means am I going to rag on someone for doing something that in my opinion was safe decently safe. I figure unless you haven't ever done something stupid in your life you have no room to talk. So I don't talk.. lol
