Had fun with a 2011 5.0

How well are the new Mustang 5.0s running? Ran into one with dealer temp tags on it and we went from an 80 punch on a mexican highway. From 80-115 I pulled 1/2 car, was pretty surprised, maybe he was just messing around or it wasn't broken in yet. He was bone stock, couldn't tell if he was auto or stick. My mods are 2.8/60s with all the normal boltons and a ported blower.

not 4k pounds, more like 3600

if you buy into the internet hype, they can yank veyrons with a tune and an intake.

they are quick but not as fast as everybody makes them out to be.

The 412hp is on primo and it makes under 400 hp on regular, I think. If it was a dealer's car maybe it was on 87 octane? Or maybe he needed a driver mod.

OP- good kill.

He was probably either a noob driver or messing around. They can run high 12s at 111 mph stock. They put down 370-380 rwhp untuned. I saw a tuned auto with tires run 12.5 at 114 mph. They are pretty quick. Good run though! Sounds like you can drive.

they say the pickup on those stock sucks, something to do with the throttle, alot of guys tune it and it fixes the issue.

Might have something to do with that variable valve timing, not too sure.

I'm sure you could move the power band around just like any other V-8 with a different intake manifold, or possibly tuning the motor to take advantage of the high compression. The computers in cars these days are awesome, being able to control timing and fuel mixtures and the like with the puch of a button and a click of the mouse. It would be interesting to see one with a meth/water sprayer and a super or turbocharger with stock compression just to see how much you could shove in the cylinder. The coyote motor is a very intersting beast, I think the aftermarket and owners are a long way from unlocking its true potential. We shall see in time.

High 12s at 111mph.

The Balts are good from a roll, but with the OP's mods, his trap is still way lower than a stock 5.0's trap. Like a good 4-5 mph lower.

They are good for high 12's stock with a good driver. Auto's are more like a 13.0 flat car. My friend has a 5.0 w/ headers back, tune, and street tires and he's running high 11's.

Pretty sure stock LS1s make peak power around 5200, so also 500 rpm off of the factory redline.

I'm not too familiar with SCs....
So that's a stage 2 SC with bolt ons? Don't those put out about as much HP as a Stock T/C (about 240WHP)? If so, that kill is surprsing. I see another guy says you beat his TC from a roll which indicates you're closer to GM1 stats

man i wish i wouldve gotten these kinds of congrats on my post! hahahaha.

i took out a 2011 5.0 from a 40 roll and no one believed me but yet they all forget the one factor that will beat any car no matter the mods, hp, or conditions and thats the DRIVER. you could have a +400hp car but if it doesnt have a good driver then of course someone with +300hp can take it out. good kill man!
