not the new one the Protege. they seem to not be on the road. theres a yellow one on my street and a kid i no just got a blue one. other then that i never see them. are the fast? i looked it up and its a 2.0 170hp 160 torque? thats less power then the 2.4L

I raced a Protege Speed (Turbo + other mods) and he could pull away from me. Only mods I had at the time was GMPP Sport Exhaust.

 

the new mazda speed 3 has around 260hp stock. I think it's the 2.4 with turbo

 

He is talking about the MazdaSpeed Protege, not the speed 3.

I've run a couple of them and pulled away pretty easily....I also ran a mazdaspeed miata with full turbo back exhaust, intake, and more boost.....pulled him pretty good aond with the new mazdaspeed 6....nie cars though

 

Ive raced a speed 6 from about a 40 roll and i stayed about a car length or more ahead... i got the better jump off the honks. I ALMOST got to run with a speed 3 last week. we both were going around 45 and he looked over and smiled, gave me the thumbs up and as soon as we both punched it a stupid car pulled out of a walmart parking lot in front of him, so he had to let off. I took it as a sign from upstairs that i probably shouldnt try. so i just slowed down and continued to drive home.

 

The protoge is pretty weak... The new one is less weak, but still weak.

 

Yeah, my buddy has a MSP, and it is just average when stock. His now has a fully built bottom end and runs pretty good, but is held back by the stock turbo. He will be turning the boost up soon, but right now it should be around 280 hp. Runs pretty strong.

 

my little brother has a mazdaspeed protege' 03 model. he has a injen intake, custom FMIC and turbo hardpiping, boost controller (12psi), greddy bov, and a magnaflow catback exhaust. He still olny puts down 230hp and 220tq. if i can find the vid ill post it ,but from a dig with me only having an intake i walked him all the way to 130mph and then i gave up.

 

history of the MPS. ok for 2003 but 180hp with turbo = weak. Than they turned up the boost and blew the engine. After building the engine they turned up the boost again and blew the tranny. My friend just traded in his MPS for a 07 MS3 because "I had it for 8 months and it was in the garage 9 times". Never heard anything good about the car.

 

A buddy of mine had a black one that ran a 14.3 with intake, header, full exhaust, blow off valve.. sux i never got the chance to run him before he traded it in for a jeep wrangler lol

there is a kid around here with a MSP bone stock him and the rest of the highschool (from what i understand from my buddy still in HS) think its the fastest car in the parking lot...i want to give him a run.

 

tell your brother to wait for the boom. if you ever have a problem with a modded msp, just take it to a high roll, they are all fearful of boosting in 5th because their stock rods are so ******* weak. There are some running around with built blocks and bigger turbos, but until they are there, they
A. aren't very fast
B. will blow a rod in a week.

the rods in that car are seriously toothpicks.

Haha, so true. When my buddy popped his, all 4 rods were bent. He heard the ticking, but decided since they were going to start with a new block it didnt matter. They found all cap bolts loose and all the rods bent, except for #3 which was laying in the street after going through the radiator. At his fathers shop, they have another one with a blown bottom end right now.

Did anyone else watching the video notice that there is a GM dealer on the side of the road?? I hope its not where he has to take the Cobalt for service!

One of my buddies has a speed six AWD turbo. I smoke him every time!!! He has AWD so off the line he gets me, then i reel him in like a fish

 

well....it depends on how you drive and what your car is. if you are an auto sedan, one will likely take you. It is close enough tho that you could win if he loses the launch.
