how would i compare against a celica gts?
i have a 2.4 and my buddy just got 2000 celica gts and was wondering how i would go up against him. all ive got is an intake, but hes got a trd exhuast and ported head. im thinking i would probably lose, but would it be bad? what do you all think?

well heres the stats..
he is lighter
faster
6 speed
more mods..
my guess is he will take you..it all depends tho, gts are harder to drive then the average car..if ur friend can drive ur hooped if not..your good..
the gts is much like a honda..not alot of torque..so youll get him at first..but dont let off..they got nice top end..

that makes complete sense. i was thinking the exact same thing. he's a pretty shitty driver, especially with this car, so we'll see. im not expecting to win and i havent been running my mouth haha i just want to get an idea

i beat a gts in summer but..then again i ran under factory time stock..so thats what that says about my driving

I ran a few when I had an intake and my tune. Start from around 35 roll...tip the scales in your favor. It takes him a while to hit lift 6000 rpms. So most likely you'll win cause from 35 you'll both be in second and it'll take him a while to hit lift. If you go from a dig, prepare to shift like mad. I was one for two racing GTSs. The one I started out behind I was able to pass by 4th gear. He didn't appear to be able to drive too well. One highly modded GTS I ran had a ton of bolt ons, looked really stealth but he scorched me. I never talked to him but I would be willing to bet he sprayed me.
Then you'll have him for sure

Its a celica, most likely it'll break when he shifts. If that doesn't happen the car will explode after he hits 45mph. Also its a celica... if you lose, ill cry. 2.4 auto I actually won multiple celicas like it was a geo, on the track that is.

you all are under rating the celica like people under rate the SS/SC.
The GTS is a nice little quick car but it has its limitations.
Yeah it wont pick up till 6k rpms like everyone said but most gts owners love their car...its a celica. hell i even love them.
anyways, if you can shift at the right points, you'll have him for sure, if not, then he will catch you everytime he catchs lift and goes vrooooooooOOOOOOOOM.
just go run him!

it'll probly blow up those things are buckets. run him from a dig and don't let up they have less torque then a shoppingcart being pushed by a 5 year old.

you will get smocked big time man..i used to have an 01 gts..loved it..and lift kicks in at 6000 not 7k like some one said...if he can drive hell be driving between 6k to 8400k every gear...even if he was stock he would own u..if he can drive hell be in lift the whole time..he wont haft to catch lift or wait for it...and even though there isnt much torque when i punched it down low it kinda felt bettter than my ss/sc..the only reason i sold it was cus the ss/sc has more potential..thats it

i highly doubt it...you would have to be a really bad driver to lose to a 2.4..gts has 185 hp stock and weighs alot less than a 2.4..sorry but even without lift the celica would probly win..

ahahha those numbers are way offfff...ahahha..i was in low 14s with just a clutch..trust me that car is not a 15sec car..go on a gts forum and say that..thats like saying the ss/sc is a 15 sec car...plus the 03 was slower than 2000 and 2001...01 was the best year to have...
