Yeah....they are friggin quick.

Basically this is what happens:

- You race the Lightning.
- After the race.....

You: "Holy ****...that hurt.."

Lightning Owner: "Would you like your ass brought to you on a platter or will you be taking it to go tonight?

Basically, you need some decent mods to hang with one.

Big time!!

I had a friend who had a silver one. You have to run 91 minimum in them...and they suck fuel back with a friggen vengance. He sold it recently because of the cost to keep it fuelled.

They are REAL fun from 50-70 WOT!!

Those numbers are wrong. It's more like 425hp and 500lbs of torque. The engine is very underrated.

0-80mph they are BEASTS then aerodynamics take over.

I owned one for a while, it was a great truck.

They are quick but they suck from a roll IMO especially from a 40 roll. As for the gas get ready to get aobut 15mpg if your luck in the city, I think I got 17 on the way home from picking it up hitting 70 the whole way home. If you have 93oct where you live you really need to run it too.

Pick this kit up and you will have a solid 12sec truck as long as you can get traction that is. Get the 4# crank pulley. DO NOT GET 6LB!! People run them but they are not safe and many have blown their engines with the 6#. Also get the Brisk Plugs, you will pick up a few hp with them .

I sold mine do to not neeing 3 toys, high insurance and shitty gas mileage. Plus my DD was on its way out so I got a new DD

They run any where from 13.5-13.9 It all depends on driver and year of truck. In 2002 they upgraded a few things like a bigger MAF, 3.55 gears to 3.73 gears, cooling mods, few other things, suspension was tweaked a little, and a few appearence changes.

Mid to high 13's at 100-102 would be about right. You'll be hard pressed to run one without a pulley these days.

They're quick, but at higher speeds, their barn-like profile hinders them some. If they're not modded, its more of a driver's race (not from a dig) if they're modded, then all I can say is "good luck".

a great driver in a S2 cobalt can surprise a regular joe driver in a lightning.
but they definately have the advantage.

most stock ones here run low to mid 14s
but capable of bustin into the 13s for sure.

Theres not really much to driving a Lightning they are all autos. A stg2 could give a bone stock L a run for its money from a roll but from a dig a stg2 doesn't stand a chance.

The slowest I've ever seen a Lightning run was a 14.2 and that was a 99L on a 90* day.

I raced one from a roll and a dig. The roll ws from 40 and he jumped a car/truck length but by 100 I had him by a car. From a dig its no contest. He straight up raped me. The guy was cool though, he complimented me on my car and said he knew exactly what it was when I pulled up next to him. He was hopin I would be game for a race or two. He gave me props and I returned them. They are nice trucks.

I haven't seen too many run great numbers at the track.

We raced one in my brother's bonestock Evo.....with 5 people in the car (including the driver) from a roll. It was pretty much dead even. I think we edged him out by about half a car up top.

I would take one over a SRT-10 Ram anyday.

I owned a 2003 Lightning for a few years.

Stock it ran 13.91@102.5 mph.

A tune, a pulley, a cai, ftvb(shift kit) and it ran 12.57@111.3 mph. I had $700 in mods at that point.

I put a ported blower and ran a 12.61@112.8 mph. I had $1400 in mods at this point.

As for topend, my Lightning slaughtered many cars...LS1's, LT1's, SRT-4's, Mustangs all the time and an occassional Lightning.

It had crappy aerodynamics but it also made enough power to where about 130 mph is when it started to get slower.

They're tough. They're strength is racing from a stop or 20 mph roll. I have a LS1 GTO A4 and when I raced a Lightning at the track all he had was exhaust and tires. He ate me alive through the 1/8 and even though I gained momentum he edged me out all three times we raced.
