A little fun w/ a 300C SRT8

I have no idea why, but this guy in a 300C SRT8 launched with me at a light. I didn't think I had a prayer, but ~70mph later, my nose is even with his driver-side door, and I'm PULLING on him in 3rd....WTF? Probably bad driver, but anyway...made me feel pretty fast. Or, maybe he has the 5.7L HEMI and slapped on a SRT8 badge. My mods are few (in sig).

4200 lbs, 420 horses, thats 10 lbs per horsepower. --- I had my windows down...boy that HEMI sounded SWEEET under full throttle. Those 20's look nice too. I don't think I'd spend 40 large on one though.

If you pulled AT ALL he was either feathering the throttle or it wasn't an SRT-8. They actualyl have an SRT appearance package for the 300/charger/magnum so they look just like the real ones but aren't.

His original post said the car had an SRT-8 badge ...

That means we would need about 290hp in our SS/SC's to match the lbs/hp ratio.

I don't think I'd spend 40 large on one though.
EVERYTHING is overpriced today ...

hahaha..the gt-r mustang
"yea it has a rotary, and nos, and forged pistons, and turbo"
lol.
Anyways, i doubt it's pullin 13.2's in an automatic, i'd give it mid 13's, the charger's do haul ass though...

but i think the 300C's are to Chargers what G35's are to 350Z's, the Luxury ones weigh more and have more features but the performance ones weigh less and have less features
L=g35, 300c
P=350z, charger

Actually believe it or not all the SRT-8's are the same speed except the Cherokee which has more power due to a less restrictive exhaust that runs through the center.

The srt8 jeep is sweet if your willing to fork out an extra 28 grand for an engine upgrade.

A lot of you are posting "420hp and 4200lbs... so the Cobalt would need 290hp."

Yeah... 290 at the Crank maybe. Those SRT-8's lose quite a bit through the drivetrain. I think they only put like 360 or so to the wheels. And the one that Car and Driver had must have been a Monster... because I had a friend with a 1st gen Neon with the SRT turbo... running low 13's at 105 or 106... and he was dead even with the SRT8 Charger from a dig at the 1/4 mark... even after having a really Shitty launch (a high 13 second launch he said)... said he was pulling him in like nothing up top.

A lot of people say they are fast up top. BUT, my friend, whose dad owns the 300C SRT8 says it falls on its face above 80mph. I dunno... that's just what he said.

I can see it being possible to beat one from a roll MAYBE... but not from a dig with what you've got... unless you are a top notch driver. Anything is possible though.

speed, but not weight, g35 and 350z have the exact same engine, but the g35 is fatter..dunno about chargers though.

also has to do with gearing, i know in my dakota and all other V8's i've driven it's pretty much you'll get to 80 or 90 quick then it wil start to slack off.
Plus i agree with you, lets not forget FWD cars lose a LOT less power than RWD because well obviously power goes right below the engine instead of the whole car to the rear tires.

I love it too. However, I find it really gay that it can't tow anything. Kinda defeats the purpose. Thats why they made it a center exhaust, so that even if you wanted to put a hitch there, you can't.

My buddies...he is on here...went 13.2@106 or something like that with just a catback. And that was just putting it in D. If he had done the one shift trick im sure it would have been lower. The cars are fast...and respond very well to mods...and straight thru exhaust does not make it more powerful..geez come on alpha

Um, you're right - I DON'T believe it. They all have the same power, and just because the pipes stick out the center of the bumper does not mean they have a "less restrictive exhaust that runs through the center" HAHAHAHAHA The Jeep has better 60' times and are easier to run high 12's or low 13's because they are AWD - not because of their exhaust (which does not run straight through underneath BTW)

And to some of the other posts...all V8's lose power above 80mph? LOL Funny **** right there.
