Loss to a 20g wrx

Raced a wrx with suspension work, full exhaust, intake, sti intercooler and 20g turbo runnin 20lbs of boost... he is running very rich, lotsa black smoke... I know the guy so one day ill find out what kind of exhaust and other **** he has... last night he told me he had around 5000 invested in her. Ive got stg 2and ive got a vacuum leak. (goin to dealership in 2 hours to figure it out). i also had 2 passengers.

anyways... We went from like a 60 roll and i would take off on him, but he would reel me in and get to about a car and half ahead before i started pulling back to about his rear bumper and then he let off....

second race 40 roll... same thing happened
third race we went from 40 again and this time it was closer he only got a car on me and i started to pull back slighty and let off... the only thing i did different this time was take the gear all the way up to 6800 before shifting and both the others just to 65k...

so all in all I lost all three times, but i was fairly happy with how i did against him and his 5k in mods.... I shoulda raced him 2 weeks ago when i had the chance before he swapped the turbos.

standard WRX is slooooooooooooooow. even with $$ your not talking an incredibly fast car..

The STi can be made into a quick 12 sec car but has absolutely no top end.

That tune most be very very rich. A cobb stage 2 wrx and stage 2 with 2.8 ss/sc is very good race. A 20g wrx should eat your car alive.

Vid proof. http://videos.streetfire.net/video/e...0e00fb5559.htm

Agreed, I have a GT35R that says otherwise.

Edit: And let that WRX owner get his head out of his ass and get a FMIC and a real tune and see how "slow" he is.

Edit #2: Yes, standard WRX's are slow as hell, that's why Buschur racing put an 06 WRX TR down the track at 12.15 @ 113 with just an STi turbo, TMIC, UP, TBE, CAI, TGV delete, crossover pipe, ported stock manifolds and tune on pump gas. Yep, really show, and super expensive to mod!!!!

I've seen a regular WRX run like 14.2-14.3 before at the track with a couple mods.

He only trapped like 92 lol but thats not bad at all...

hell any factory boosted car has the potential to be fast, its all about whether the motor can stand up to the boost.

negative, it's whether or not it's properly tuned will determine if the car runs well or not.

notice how it is a standard wrx MODDED? i beat on standard wrxs all the time, but I believe the turbo he is running is bigger then the stis stock turbo. which by ur conclusion could easily make his car a quick 12sec car, right? as for the no topend... it seemed the faster the speeds we would go, the closer i would get to him. Like I said im not too upset on the outcomes for his mods vs mine.

also for the guy who said the 20g should eat me, u gotta remember he is running a very moderate tune... only 20 lbs of boost and from what the subi guys up there been saying is that turbo is good for a bit more boost.

he didnt pull away to hard at most a car and a half at one time... hes got like 5k invested in it. I know if we went from a dig he would murder me... im sure ill run him again numerous times beings were friends. one night ill have tom bring out his nitevision cam and record it. The only reason we went from the rolls was to give me some what of a chance... IF he doesnt do anything else to the car i think once i get a header, dp, exhaust and a 2.9 or 2.8 i should take him.

20psi on a 20g in the 2.0 of a WRX on a "moderate" tune should still be WELL over 300whp. Probably in the 320-330whp area. Sorry but he let off the gas, you weren't catching up.

He is claiming 330 to the wheels. As for him letting off... I know the guy... and i talked to him and said he didnt let off the gas.

I like how everyone tries to act like they were there and they know what happened... I could see where u would be coming from saying he let off the gas. That very well could have happened, but since I KNOW him and TALKED to him afterward and he said he didnt let off the gas. So Im sorry to rain on your parade... but HE DIDNT LET OFF THE GAS, douche bag

your airbox mod must add an extra 50whp then cause a 330whp rex = your car in his belly.

well here is the issue. You are probably putting down what... around 235-240whp? he is hmmm maybe 300-400 lbs heavier....but he is making 90 more whp than you. That is total rape from a roll or dig. TOTAL rape. something is wrong, im not saying you are lying.

Would you really expect anything less from the war stories? Just last week a 2.4 SS hung right with an s2000.

So I mean I could definately see a high 13, low 14 second cobalt run with a low 12 seocnd WRX. I mean, the race was from a roll!

i would have thought youd have a higher opinion of this section slow.
for someone whos entire involvement in this forum is trolling the war stories section and entering "GTO" in the search engine....

What does any of this have to do with a GTO? You said you were catching up to a car that should have you by an easy 15mph in trap speed.

with 330whp, this car should be trapping around 110. the point is, if this guy was not driving like a chimp, there is something wrong with his car.
