He beat you because of the low end torque he has. Which actually should of been to your advanage from the light, seeing as controling the torque on VW's from a line is alot harder than controling our weak torque.

the touareg got quoted by the insurance company as a wagon.. and I know that the Q35 is considered a wagon.. but I found the touareg on edmunds under some SUV stuff. I'm tired of this in-between crap.

No stock r32 is gonna 'smoke' an sstc. No chance of that. Even from a dig sstc will pass r32 by third gear
I'm cruising down the street, when this kid in a silver Jetta comes up next to me, rap music blaring. He's lurching forward for a race. So I decided to embarrass him (being arrogant). I downshifted to 2nd@45mph, and punched it. He was hanging with me! Shifted to 3rd, thinking no way he can hang on the top-end. I couldn't even shake him until over 85mph. We come to a red light. We sit there, no revving or anything. Light turns gree, and I peel out BAD!! All the way through 1st and 2nd. By the time I catch ground, he's about 8 lenghts ahead of me, and he slows down, considering himself a winner. So he gets all cocky, and blasts his rap music again, looking at me with a cocky grin. I tried to raoll race again, since there were no lights turning red, but he refused. he kept telling me to "wait a minute". he kept saying this for like 2 mins straight, so finally, i just turn off. he then gives me the nelson laugh (Simpsons) as he passes me. I'm sure he'll be going on his foums telling everyone how SS's suck, etc.
BTW, the reason I'm mad about losing is cuz HE STILL HAD DEALER PLATES ON HIS CAR!!!! It wasn't a brand new Jetta though. it looked like maybe on '04 or '03. The body style right before the new one. It had the stock rims, which looked to be 18", and all i could see on the back of the car was; GLS, or GTi, or something. It started with a "G", and badge was chrome, not red like the GTI. Someone please tell me VW made a fast Jetta recently, cuz I'm pissed and embarrassed right now

Don't be too sad. They came with a 460 cubic in V-8 in them. They overheat like a biotch but they can make a TON of power with just a little bit of work... Exhaust, carb tuning (depending on the year), and some timing advance. He could EASILY have been puching 500 lbs./torque at the pavement. But like you said it looks like Chevy Chase's car in Family Vacation.
