Friday night, me and a buch of friends decide to go to Hooters in Mechanicsburg. One guy brings a friend who drives a MS3. Being the guy I am it's only a matter of time before I'm too tempted to see what the Stage2 is made of (for those that have been reading my posts you know I got my S2 over the winter and haven't been able to find too many worthy opponents... so this was a unique opportunity for me).
We're on 81 and got to a straight part and I let him get up next to me (since i saw there were no cars for a while and jumped at the chance). It wasn't a great race because we were both kinda screwing around accelerating and then letting off... so we didn't really know we were gonna race. But the one time he gunned it (his rear bumper was at my front bumper) I gunned it, too. He stayed on it, having heard my car, and we went WOT. We stayed even the entire time (neither of us pulling), the only thing I did notice is once when he shifted his car jumped forward on me, but then didn't continue to pull (perhaps a shift at the same time as me that I didn't realize... but I can't explain it any other way). We were both in top gear and neither was pulling and traffic was at 100yds and closing fast so we let off.
It was nice to open her up next to a worthy opponent. As I told the kid once we got to Hooters, "too bad the MS3's came out shortly after I got my car or I'd be driving one". Very nice car and very fast for the price. He was every bit as fast as me if not faster in a real race from a dig and I have work done. I was satisfied with the outcome.

well, i've admitted it on here many times: I'm not the most mechanically inclined person on the planet by any means...lol. So I actually don't even know what the differences between catback and turbo catback would be. The only thing I know (I think) is that the prefix cat- refers to the catlytic converter which reduces emissions. So, cat-LESS would be just straight pipes. But that's as much as I know.

Nice run, sounds like you had fun... but trust me, it's more fun to run an MS3 at the track, from a dig. Believe it or not we've got the advantage from a dig.
Most times I see dig races between the MS3 and the S2 LSJ the S2 wins thanks to that jump we get down low in first (Thank the supercharger for that
). Even a stock SS S/C should get the jump initially, but the MS3 is ususally walking away by half-track. Really it's a driver's race with S2, it is kinda fun though to see the puzzled look on their faces when they realize we're keeping up. Anything much more than stock though and the S2 doesn't have a real good shot, dang MS3's make power quick with them mods.

I pulled one last wednesday, he had just an intake and full exhaust. I pulled about a car in second and pretty much sat there. I wasn't spraying, so consider me stage 2/2.8/boltons, and we were at about a 40 roll. The cars are quick, they will be monsters once modded.
MSPD3's are great cars, too bad i'm not a fan of hatch backs at all though. Interesting to see who would win, stock srt-4 caliber or a stock mspd3.... supposidly the srt-4 caliber lsd is like driving on footballs though
Stock = NO MODS
Not "Ohh an intake and exhaust"
lol, good point. But I figured the person who asked wanted to know what I was up against, and an intake without full exhaust work isn't going to make much of a difference.
you'd be surprised at how much gain a catback exhaust gives turbo cars, then delete the cat and there's even more power. it's rediculous.
A member on here (Laloosh) with an MS3 claims he gained like 10whp just from an intake and even more gains from an exhaust. That could be 30whp right there. Nice race though, I like those cars a lot, just not a fan of the hatchback design.
i think its funny how there are so many "go from a dig" trolls yet most of the races posted here are done on the highway...you can't exactly just pull over or flag some guy down to go find a side street and run.
perhaps a better statement would be "take it to the track?" you can dig race all night long there...
