me vs 00-04 gt stang

sat. night i was just cruising along the strip doin 40mph when an orange 00-04 ish GT stang flys past me, engine revving. it was a hard top. couldnt tell what transmission. it looked/sounded stock so i figured id give it a go. so from 40 i drop into 2nd and hold my speed til i hear the roar of the 'stang's 4.6L V8. we go from 40 to 80 mph and i slowly was PULLING on him?! he was a carlength infront BEFORE we gunned it so i was technically "reeling him in" not pulling away.

but im did i legitimately pull or was he just playing with me, keeping me close. im not sure what the last generation stangs run, but the new retro style ive seen run mid 13s with a manual trans and no mods....

i took the flyby and rev to mean he wanted to go. so we both went. im not saying it was a legit 1/4mi race. i just wanted to know if its possible that i pulled on him at those speeds. and by the looks of rangerondubbs sig, it might be possible.

being that you went from a roll its not only believable, its what should happen. Stock for stock the SS/SC is going to pull from a roll, and the GT will win from a dig.

bobby, where in Arkansas are you at?

Well...nice run if it was legit...its hard to tell.....40-80 is not very long race at all. Stock for stock the mustang should win either way...given both are good drivers. Also chances were...u didnt say...he was prob in third if he did drop a gear...so if u dropped 2nd....your in your powerband more than he is. Third gear in the stang is realatively long if I remember right, tops out at just over 100.....105 I think...someone correct me if I'm wrong. So chances are it would've been a good race if you guys hung alittle longer....giving a slight edge to the stang. From a dig stang def.

You'll never see over 100mph in 3rd gear with a T-45 or T-3650 transmission, which is what the 99-04 GT manuals had (99-mid 01 had T-45, mid 01 to 04 had 3650). Then again, I have steeper gears than the stock 3.27s so I may be wrong too. Bone stock I think you'd still have to hit 4th.

Sorry about that lol.
your secrets safe with me. What do you drive, you seem to know a good bit about late model stangs.

yeah..I'm not really sure...my friend had an 03 gt with 4.10 gears and I'm pretty sure he was just hitting over 100 before shifting 4th.....but I could be wrong...I'll have to ask him...

I have 4.10s and shift into 4th well before the end of (what would be) the 1/4 (we have a 1000' track). I trap 92-94mph in the 1000' in 4th around 5k rpm, give or take a few hundred, thats why I feel it would be tough to hit 100 in 3rd. Then again, I have to remember stock gear ratios compared to my steeper 4.10s. Never had the car to the track with 3.27s. I'll ask around and see what answers I get.

I like the cut of your jib. Love the WS6's, and have been thinking a LOT about trading up to an Azure Blue Mach 1. Would love an 03 Cobra, but its not in the cards right now. But someday there will be a WS6 in my garage next to whatever stang I have.

Now that I think about it.....he did have it chipped...which I'm sure altered his rev limiter alittle I believe...even still...I have no idea what I'm talking about really.....my bad this was so long ago.....he did so much stuff....supercharged it then go rid of it for wrx...not that I really have anything against that...but the stang was so quick...and he got rid of it soon after he supercharged it....he never makes any sense to me...

If it's orange, it's an '04. I have beaten two of them, one stick and the other an auto. Believable story.

Among my other 28 cars I had a 2003 GT after a **** load of bolt-on's a SS/SC would still kill it from a roll. From a dig it would have been a drivers race to 100 then SS/SC would eat it up.

The 4.6 SOHC GT is only good for the 1/4 from a roll they suck and top speed is terrible.

My buddies GT has gears and cams plus just about every other bolt-on, froma roll I easily keep up and after 105mph he's done and I am pulling away with ease.

A GT with cams/bolt ons? Really? When I was in the mid 300s (hp), my buddies GT with all those mods ans tuned was almost right next to me to 100. Thats wierd. Maybe you are just an outstanding driver?

Actually he is pretty much baseless, when he talks. He thinks STOCK LS1 F-bodies can pull a .92+ on the skid pad.

Suprisingly, no. Different guy, similar mentalities. I just give him crap because he has yet to prove a stock LS1 f-body can pull that high of a skidpad even though he swears they can. At one point he was saying they could pull a .98 on the skidpad.

To bad your a worthless ****, huh 280Z1977. Stop bringing up my typing error I corrected myself two posts later, who the hell cares?

Are you just mad that you couldn't afford two Camaro SS's or two LT1's or two Mustang GT's?

As for my friends Mustang it put down 297WHP after being tuned, a 297WHP SOHC GT isn't anything special. All of the things that make a stock SOHC slow handicap the modded GT too.

From a dig his car is right behind a LS1 but from a roll the LS1 kills him. Unless F/I is used it seems a SOHC GT hits a brick wall above 100mph.

It should be "Too bad, you are(or you're) a..."

Maybe you should learn to type.

Here is me pulling the rug out from underneath you and you completely shutting up as you should do now.

I realize 297whp isnt anything special...but thats not bad either...its more than any ss/sc is putting down. Plus the gt hitting a wall after 100???? I've been in my friends 03 gt and it went pretty good with a couple bolt ons...we've rolled with my friends srt4 and the stang never lost its ground after 100....please show me a video of you walking a gt over a 100mph cuz I'd like to see it.

Who cares if it's after 100mph or not from a roll a SS/SC has a Mustang GT killed well before then.

As for you 280Z1977 quit wasting space with your useless garbage, then again it's nice to get a good laugh once and a while thanks for trolling!

I have Stage 2 so it happens on a weekly basis.

What do you consider a midly modded Mustang anyway? Typical mods like plenum, CAI, o/r H-Pipe and gears still don't make a 99-04 GT fast.

And I wouldn't consider a Mustang with gears, cams, o/r h-pipe, tune, LT's, CAI and plenum mildly modded more like highly modded. A car with these can run high 12's on drag radials but is still food for a Stage 2 SS/SC from a roll.

Like I said before they still suck from a roll.
